Hi everyone! 💚🐴

Our Inventory Director has put together a list of items that would be incredibly helpful for the rescue right now. If you'd like to support the horses, we would be grateful for donations of these supplies or a monetary donation that allows us to purchase them as needed.

Items currently needed:

🪰 UV Fly Masks - Several of our horses have white faces and pink skin that are especially sensitive to the sun. UV fly masks help protect them from both irritating insects and painful sunburns. Bonus points if they have a nose cover!

🧂 Salt Lick Blocks - Salt blocks encourage natural water consumption, helping our horses stay hydrated, especially during the warmer months.

🌾 Senior Feed - Many of our horses fall into the senior category. As they age, specialized feed helps them maintain a healthy weight and receive the nutrients they need to thrive.

🛏️ Pine Shavings for Bedding - Occasionally, horses need to be brought into the barn for evaluation, recovery, or stall rest. Clean, dry bedding is essential for their comfort and well-being.

POV: I am formally submitting a complaint regarding the new "No Sugary Treats" policy. 📝😤

To whom it may concern,

I have been informed that carrots, apples, and other delicious snacks may be limited due to my "special dietary needs." I would like the record to show that I find this decision highly unfair and discriminatory toward small, handsome horses.

Management claims that minis are more prone to laminitis and that my diet has been carefully formulated to keep me healthy and comfortable. While I understand their concern, I would also like it noted that I was not consulted during this decision-making process.

Despite my objections, my humans are doing what is best for me. Some of us have diets specifically tailored to our individual needs, and for minis like me, too much sugar can lead to serious health problems. Keeping me happy means keeping me healthy, even if that means fewer sweet treats.

I will continue to review this policy and file additional complaints as necessary.

📣 Exciting Announcement! 📣

🚨🐴 New Signs Are Up! 🐴🚨

If you drive by the rescue, you'll notice some brand-new signs out front! We are excited to invite everyone to our Down Home Vendor Fair, proudly brought to you by Down Home Real Estate Co.

Join us for a fun-filled day supporting the horses and exploring all that our amazing vendors have to offer. We will have 30+ vendors, each bringing unique products, handmade items, and special finds. Be sure to stop by our raffle table and silent auction, where you'll have the chance to win some great prizes while helping support the rescue.

We'll also have our rescue merchandise available, including hats, T-shirts, and more, so you can show your support wherever you go.

Most importantly, the horses can't wait to meet everyone! Come spend some time at the farm, visit the herd, learn about our mission, and enjoy a great day with the community.

💚🐴 Thank You! 🐴💚

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in this week's $5 Friday fundraiser!

Because of your generosity, we were able to purchase a bottle of fly spray to help keep those pesky flies and other biting insects at bay. 🪰

It may seem like a small purchase, but supplies like fly spray add up quickly when you're caring for 24 equines. During the warmer months, it's an essential part of keeping our horses comfortable and protected from irritation caused by flies and other bugs.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps provide the daily care our rescue horses need. We are incredibly grateful for your support and for being part of their journey.

✨🐴 It’s $5 Friday again! 🐴✨

Last week, your support helped us cover the cost of a farrier visit for one of our rescue horses, including sweet Gizmo getting those little feeties taken care of. 💚

This week, we’re continuing to raise support for the everyday care that keeps our horses healthy, comfortable, and thriving. Hay, grain, supplements, vet care, fencing repairs, and maintenance all add up quickly when caring for a herd of rescue horses.

Pictured here is Roane, who is currently on medication for arthritis along with supplements to help keep him comfortable and feeling his best. Horses like Roane are a reminder that rescue doesn’t stop after rehabilitation as many continue to need lifelong care and support. 

The beautiful thing about $5 Friday is that small donations truly make a BIG difference when a community comes together.

Spring wellness season is in full swing here at Lucky Clover Rescue! 🐴

On Friday, May 22, all of our horses received their rabies vaccines, with 5-way vaccines and dewormer scheduled for this upcoming weekend. We space these treatments throughout the spring to avoid overloading their systems and to closely monitor for any potential reactions or concerns.

Now that everyone has received the all-clear from the vet, we’ll soon be scheduling dental exams!

Why are horse dentals so important? Proper dental care helps horses efficiently break down hay, grain, and grass so they can absorb the nutrients their bodies need. Just like with humans, many internal health issues can begin in the mouth, making regular dental care an essential part of overall wellness. 💚
