MEET CAROL!

If your dog has stayed with us, chances are they know Carol, our Lead Kennel Tech!
She joined the Three Lakes team in January 2025 but we can’t imagine not having her here!

Carol is the calm, caring presence every kennel needs!
She pays attention to even the smallest details of each dog’s care and individual needs. She’s hardworking, dependable, and when it comes to keeping our kennels clean… meticulous might be an understatement!
She takes so much pride in her work, treats every dog like they’re one of her own, and the dogs absolutely adore her!

🐾 Why dogs?

For Carol, taking care of animals comes naturally. She has a huge heart for the dogs in our care and makes sure each one is comfortable, fed, walked/played with, happy, clean, and so loved while they’re with us!
And trust us — the dogs know exactly who to go to when they want a little extra attention…and treats 😂

🏡 Outside of Three Lakes

Carol enjoys spending time outdoors with her family — her two children, Maci and Frank, their dad Jacob, and of course, their dogs and two cats!

🐾 What does she think about working at Three Lakes?

The amount of care, pride, and attention she puts into her work never goes unnoticed — by us or by the dogs!

If you see Carol around, be sure to say hi… although there’s a pretty good chance she’ll be busy giving one of your dogs some extra love, scratches and treatos! 🐶

🐾🐾 SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL SERVICE DOG AWARENESS MONTH 🐕‍🦺🦮

A friend and I decided to try a small restaurant that had rave reviews about the food. I walked in with my Service Dog, Cinder, and you would’ve thought I had brought a full-grown grizzly bear through the door.

The three occupied tables audibly gasped when we walked in. The waitress physically jumped backward when she saw Cinder and, after we sat down, wouldn’t come within about five feet of our table, practically threw the menus at me. Then the table behind us actually got up and moved farther away.

Meanwhile, the terrifying beast in question…
Went calmly under the table, laid down, and stayed there quietly for our entire meal. 😂

Dinner went off without a hitch. The food was actually VERY good!

Then, as we stood up to leave, I heard a woman at one of the tables say to her husband:
“Oh my gosh, there’s a dog here. I didn’t even know there was a dog in here!”

🎯 And THAT is the point.

That is exactly what a properly trained Service Dog should look like in a restaurant.
Quiet. Unobtrusive. Under control. And largely unnoticed.

But Service Dog etiquette goes both ways.

You don’t have to love dogs.
You don’t have to interact with them — actually, please don’t.
And you don’t have to understand why someone needs one.
But please don’t gasp, stare, point, call to the dog, pet them, or move away from the handler like they’re contagious.
Ignore the dog. Give the team space. Treat the handler like you would anyone else. ❤️

A Service Dog is medical assistance, and their handler deserves to exist in public without being made to feel like a spectacle.

Unfortunately, despite the food being genuinely very good, I’m not sure I’ll return. Being made to feel that uncomfortable simply because I walked through the door with the medical assistance I need isn’t an experience I’m eager to repeat.

⭐️ EXCUSE ME… HAVE YOU SEEN THIS FACE?! ⭐️

STAR was born and raised in the neighborhood and has lived/roamed her life on the streets.
There were 5-6 siblings the neighbors were feeding and she is the last surviving one.
She came running up to me in the road fresh off puppies (we have not found/seen the pups) and I snatched her up. **See video in comments of her coming up to me!!**
She has probably been bred every cycle 💔😭 I think the puppies faced the same fate as her siblings.

🩷 Star is currently accepting applications for a new personal assistant…we mean…”foster family”.
WE CANNOT KEEP HER- if we cannot find a foster post-spay recovery, she will be released back to the streets.
(I am not a rescue, I do not have funding besides a few wonderful donors, I do not have the means to keep her long-term)

Job duties may include:
🐾 Telling her she’s pretty approximately 47 times a day
⭐ Admiring her gorgeous blue & brown eyes
💗 Providing scratches, belly rubs, attention, snicky-snacks, and general adoration
🏡 Giving her a safe spot to land where she can finally be the STAR of the show (all needs provided)

Her qualifications:
• Female bully mix (unknown)
• 2-3 years old & 45-50lbs
• UTD on shots
• Will be spayed 9/2
• Sweet/gentle with people (kids unknown)
• Seems good with the strays in the neighborhood
• Cats unknown
• Dewormed
• Flea/tick prevention
• HW status: PENDING
• Good/clean in a crate
• Learning to walk on a leash
• Excellent smile
• Excellent ears
• 10/10 pink snoot
