The Historic Rebarchek Farm Harvest Day event 2026 was windy and well attended!
Kristie Parsons volunteered to stir and oversee the making of 30+ gallons of potato soup!
The public came to explore the farm, harvest potatoes, kale, etc. Farm animals to pet, tug-of-war games, wide open space for children to explore, and smiles everywhere, a good time for all.
Sharon Hein was the master organizer wielding a chef knife. Many volunteers made this free event possible to share the beauty of agriculture.

We are wrapping up another great clinic with Laura Faber Morris at ACF.
13 equines and their humans benefitted from the education. Laura teaches us how to better understand what their body is telling us it needs.
We look at equine muscles, movement, body mechanics of horse and rider through science. We walk away understanding how to help our horses release tensions and pain, how to ride better connected with our horse, and what limitations may exist.
All of the participant horses earn their keep by working for a living in some capacity. This clinic honors the horse as a working partner who receives relief through bodywork and attention to their needs!
A big thanks to Kelsey and Sue with Lucky 2 Shoes Equestrians , Ivana Haverlikova with Denali Horseback Tours, Stephanie Haase with 4-H, and Colleen Fisk with Backcountry Horseman of Alaska for participating and teaching others what you learn at Arctic Curly Farm!

Wild Horses had a great time in LA. Lainey's fans made this tiny venue feel like a gathering on the farm!

This is what BLM mustang roundup look like in 2026.
These horses are in the high mountains and pushed down by helicopter s. In their terrified flight mode many get injured beyond saving or going to auction. They go to Canadian meat plants. It's a big industry there.
Many horses that make it to action have injuries both physical and psychological. I know, I've seen it and worked with it.
Our elected officials allow this. Mustangs need us to advocate for them.

Alaska State Fair holds countless memories from the years of working pony rides and trail rides.
The banner picture of me was taken the year I had an all Curly horse string for trail rides in 2014.
Before the Native area was developed, it was wooded and I lead trail rides there in conjunction with hand led Alaska Ponies.
Fun to see the fair using my image in 2026.

Feeding mini donkey Gus is a bit different than my Curly horse Dusty.
They both need hay in the winter. Year round they need a vegetation variety in their diet and mineral/vitamin supplements.
Joe Mead, one of the first Curly horses beeders claimed his Curly horses could survive off Alaska's wild vegetation. He was right!
In this picture of Gus and Dusty, they are plump from whatever vegetation they find on this 5 acres. I have to pen them up for the night to keep weight off of them.
Alaska's climate creates local hay issues. Such as getting hay with low moisture content so that mold won't grow while stored all winter. Another issue is high sugar content in hay. Mini donkeys need a low sugar diet. In fact, it's recommended to feed them straw for empty calories.
Dusty is 25. Horses seem to become more sensitive to sugar in hay in their senior years. I have switched to Orchard grass from Washington state for the low sugar, softness, fiber, protien,and very low moisture (4-7%). More on winter feeding later.
This is happy Gus and Dusty grazing. Little grass to be found, fat and sassy on this beautiful Sunday in Alaska.
