With NAVHDA test prep it was a little hard to keep posts going but could not be more proud of how it turned out. I dropped Blaze in on somewhat of a whim for the Northern Lights test and he racked up a 201 Prize one to qualify for next year’s invitational. I also had the pleasure of working with a great Large Munsterlander named Chilkoot, her test with Northern Lights was a bit more put together and she scored a 187 Prize 3, I was lucky enough to handle her again and even though her overall score was lower she hit the marks where it counts and ran a 166 Prize 2 with the Alaska Yukon chapter.

Very proud of both of these dogs.

We are getting there with Nel. It’s great to see her confidence grow and with it her style. I can’t wait to see where another 5 weeks will take us.

It’s always nice to get the dogs out in the field and run some solid bird work. Advanced braces and others just getting started out it’s always a good time.

Was it cold? Sure, I think I spied -6 on fire station board this morning. Was it worth it? Always. Glad the higher elevation held a warmer temperature. Bandit and Sadie did a great job today.

This years trip didn’t yield any grouse but we manage to pull a few ptarmigan out of the deal. Tired legs and at the end tired dogs. The biggest surprise was Reds continued improvement on wild birds. This guy knows what he is doing a little work to get the retrieve down and he’ll make one heck of a Hunter. Our craziest find of the trip was a wolf carcass in some spruce timber.
