A Special Visitor for the Kitties at Paws and Love

On Monday, September 28th, the kitties at Paws and Love had a special visitor! Lama Karma Drodhul, a beloved teacher in the Tibetan Buddhist Karma Kagyu tradition visited the Sanctuary to offer a blessing for the residents. Offering blessings for the wellbeing of all sentient beings is part of traditional Buddhist practice and Lama Karma has a special affinity for animals (who also seem to love him!).

Lama Karma said prayers, sprinkled blessed-water, and hung prayer flags. In the Buddhist tradition, the prayer flags spread blessing in two ways: their blessing is carried to all when the wind blows through them, and they offer a blessing to all who see them. He also offered specific prayers for some of our kitties with health concerns.

Lama Karma blessed the Sanctuary as part of his visit to the Greenville Karma Thegsum Choling, a Buddhist Meditation Group affiliated with Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD), the seat of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa in Woodstock, NY. Lama Karma is the former president of KTD. It was an honor to host Lama Karma at the Sanctuary, and the cats seemed to enjoy his visit!

We are so EXCITED to announce the results of our quarterly drawing. Every donation from July 1 through September 30 was entered into the drawing and we're happy to share that this little kitty will be going home with Annie Circelli Sutton! Congratulations Annie!! 😸

Charlotte update!!

Charlotte had a pretty long procedure yesterday. They ended up removing the 9 remaining teeth she had.
She’s in her private recovery room. While in here, we will be able to control her pain and make sure she has plenty of soft food to eat while her mouth heals.

Her final total was $557. Currently we have raised $231 through Facebook and have a matching offer for the next $100.

Hey Friends !!
Fundraising post for kitty dental !!

One of our dear sanctuary kitties, Charlotte, was showing signs of a sore mouth in August. We made an appointment to get her seen right away. It seems that her teeth were causing discomfort and also a small infection. She was given an antibiotic as well as a steroid for immediate relief but we were told she would be needing a dental with some extractions as soon as possible. The first available was November 12. Tuesday afternoon Pamlico Animal Hospital called and they had a cancellation and asked if would we like to get her dental TODAY. Of course we would!!
Charlotte is already at the vet and will be going in for her dental procedure soon where they will be addressing all of the concerns. If you've ever had to have a dental done for an animal, you know that they don't always know what they are going to find until they are under sedation.
The low estimate is just at $600-this does NOT include pre-surgery blood work or x-rays and if there are no complicated extractions. The higher estimate is $1050 and this includes the labs and xrays and a little in case there is a stubborn tooth.
Can you please help us raise the funds to cover her surgery?
Any amount will greatly help.

When there's a job to be done, you get it done! 💪

We were SO IMPRESSED last week when we were dropping cats off at the vet for their spays/neuters and met a gentleman who was doing the same because he was determined to be part of the solution!

He knew what would happen if the kittens grew up without being fixed, so he took it upon himself to do something about it and crafted this crate to transport them!

Thanks to the low-cost spay/neuter vouchers provided by the Humane Society of Beaufort County, NC, he was able to get this group fixed!!
