☕️🍂 MOVE OVER, STARBUCKS! THE PUPKIN SPICE LATTE IS HERE! 🍂☕️

The human pumpkin spice latte is back, but we think our patients deserve their own fall-favorite treat. 🐶✨

If your dog is begging for a sip of your morning coffee, skip the caffeine and whip them up this 100% vet-approved, 3-ingredient Pupkin Spice Latte at home!🛒

The Recipe:
2 tbsp of plain, 100% pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie mix!)
1/2 cup of unsweetened coconut milk, goat's milk, or plain oat milk
A pinch of cinnamon (skip the nutmeg, as it can be toxic to dogs!)

IMPORTANT PET CARE UPDATE

We want to give a quick heads-up to all our canine families.

There is a rise in kennel cough (canine infectious respiratory disease) cases in our area right now. Mostly from some local boarding facilities, but a few cases have been through our building. Because it spreads very easily, we want everyone to be aware of the signs and symptoms. We have had most of our cases of exposure from dogs who owners were unaware had CIRD. Please see the link below for more information. Most dogs are able to clear the infection without concern.

We ask that if you suspect your dog has symptoms of CIRD at the time of your appointment, that you keep them in your vehicle and call the front desk when you arrive. Stay in your vehicle and a doctor and technician will come out to you and screen your animal. All dogs that are suspected to have CIRD should avoid contact with other dogs until they are symptom free for a minimum of 5 days.

If you’ve moved, changed your phone number, or gotten a new email address, your pet's chip might still point to your old info.

✅ Find your pet’s chip number (check old vet records or adoption paperwork).
✅ Look up the registry using a tool like the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup.
✅ Log in and update your phone number, address, and emergency contacts.

☀️🐾 Fun Fact Friday: Summer Edition! 🐾☀️

Did you know that dogs don't sweat the same way humans do? 😓🐶
While we sweat all over our bodies to cool down, our furry friends only have sweat glands in two very specific places: their paw pads and their noses! 🐾👃💨

How Do Dogs Actually Cool Down?
Because their sweat glands are so small, dogs rely on panting as their primary way to beat the heat. When a dog pants, air moves quickly over the moist tissues of their tongue and lungs, evaporating moisture and cooling their body down.

🛑 What This Means for Summer Safety:
Check the Paws: If your dog leaves wet paw prints on a dry floor, they are actively trying to cool down!
Panting has Limits: Panting is much less efficient than human sweating. When the air is hot and humid, panting doesn't work as well, putting pets at a higher risk for heatstroke.
Keep it Cool: Always provide plenty of shade, fresh water, and air conditioning on blistering hot summer days.

Ingredients:
2 Ripe Bananas (Sliced and frozen)
2 Tablespoons Peanut Butter (Must be xylitol-free! (Aka: birch sugar) Check your label 🚨)
