Listen, folks. I absolutely LOVE my yellow dogs. I really do. But there’s just something about a beautiful black Labrador that’s hard to beat. Those deep, piercing brown eyes! 🖤🐾

Piper and Belle are about as good-looking as they come. And thankfully, they’re not too bad at the retrieving part either!

Too many times the British Lab is confused with the English Lab, even in these comments. We’re talking two completely different animals.

The British Labs are unique and superb hunters. It’s easy to see why they are becoming a big preference over the others in hunting situations.

Not to mention, we absolutely love our British Labradors!

These are the things I love about this! Received this update on Mazie! She is out of our very first litter of Wilson x Charlie and resides down in Texas! The girl has got it figured out. All the way down to the fact she knows what that safety clicking off means! She picked up over 40 birds on their hunt last weekend! I love it!

Keep killing it down there in Texas, De and Mazie!

It has been close to a week since Birdie had any work. We checked out what she had retained from previous sessions. It’s amazing what a dog retains and builds on even when they go days without work.

People often ask what they should do since they haven’t had time to train lately. This here shows that dogs retain a lot of what you have worked on. However, if you go an extended period of time, I would always back up and do a little refresher before moving forward. It is never going to hurt to go backwards a little bit just to help the dog win!

Great day for training! Woke up to the temperature in the 40’s!

Had a few dogs out to start running through some hunting scenarios! First hunting season for our litter last year is approaching quickly! Getting them used to decoys, gunshots, calls, talking and everything else that goes in to a hunt is pivotal to making a good gundog! Can’t wait to see these dogs!

I was out working Piper this morning and someone found us. It’s good to know she responds to the whistle and follows it! Her training is going well I guess!! 😂

Birdie will keep you on your toes! She was ready to go once she found us!

*Birdie Update*

Birdie is now 14 weeks old! She is progressing through her early obedience just like I would expect her to. We work on these skills roughly 3-4 times a week for five to ten minutes. Other than that, she is a puppy exploring the world! These dogs are extremely smart and driven. When they are given a task, they are there to complete it and satisfy the owner! When I say this girl is her mom made over, I mean she is her mom made over!

There will be some challenges ahead as we progress just like I had with her mom. That first year and a half I really worked to get into her head and let her know she didn’t know absolutely everything like she thought! Once maturity kicked in, I was inside and we have been smooth sailing since! I expect a lot of the same with little Miss Birdie, but I have progressed a ton as a trainer since then so I think we will manage a lot better!

Really looking forward to seeing this girl grow and all her littermates grow up!
