Hello all, this is Angel. I wanted to post a couple things about the shop that new clients may not know. First I want to thank all my pups and their family's for their continued support.
I started keeping my door locked during business hours because of COVID last year. I was not the only grooming shop that did this, it was how things needed to be done so I could stay operating. I learned something during this time. The dogs I groomed were calmer and it didn't take as long to groom them. The reason being, we weren't having to stop and start grooming. I deal mainly with pups who need nontraditional grooming methods(super quiet environment or some need me to sing to them). Pups I groom are high anxiety, aggressive, disabled and a good deal of them have never been successfully groomed without sedation or injury (I do also have happy, well adjusted pups lol). With the door locked while I'm with a pup, I am able to control the environment, focus solely on them and bond more closely which allows them to trust me and calm down faster. The outcome is a better finished groom without injuries and a calmer, happier pup who is not as afraid next time. If you come and the door is locked call or text the shop and I'll come to the door. Before and after grooming, you can and often do come in so we can talk about what you want (before) and what has happened while grooming (after). All family's are welcome to tour the shop and ask all the questions they want to. My clients know I'm willing to talk to them as long as they want to make sure they are comfortable leaving their babies with me. I do not take lightly the trust put in me and will never endanger the pups put in my care.
The next thing is, I am the whole business. Just me, alone. I don't have anyone answering phones or washing dogs, cleaning ect. I typically work 6 days a week, every week. I don't always get back to clients right away. If you text, it stays on the phone until I answer you so that is the best way to get through. I encourage everyone to make appointments when you pick up your babies. That is the only way to make sure you get an appointment. If you wait until you need it, I will not have anything available for at least 6-8 weeks. I do not make standing appointments (meaning scheduling you for more than one appointment in advance) for new clients. The reason why is, I don't know if you will show up for the first one or if I will be a good fit for your needs. After the first visit I will do my best to fit you in for the next appointment and then put you on my schedule with a standing appointment for the rest of the calendar year.
I groom well over 500 dogs on a rotating basis and love all of them as if they are my own. That being said, every once in a while I get a dog that I can't groom because it's not safe outside of a vets office or the dog is to hard/big/untrained for me to safely control. I will be honest with you about this and suggest either a groomer that works with a vet or just a different shop that has more than one person to work with your dog. I would rather tell the truth and not cause injuries to your dog. This might upset some people, but I know it's the right thing to do and choose the safety of your pup over money every time.
I know this was a lengthy post and I truly appreciate those of you that read it. All my clients know I do this because I love it, not because its my job. I laugh and play with your pups, I praise and give them confidence, I love them and cry for them when they pass away. I dedicate my life to making sure they have a safe place to be and I'm proud of all I have achieved with your help and understanding.
