You wouldn’t believe that a month or so ago, this dog was repeatedly jumping up to attempt to bite me in the legs, face, and chest. Luckily, he was muzzled. Even with defensive leash handling, he attempted to bite over and over again.

Scout has just started his day train program after his private lesson program. His mom is dedicated to helping him become the best he can possibly be, and this approach is really working for him.
This second program is allowing him to get some space from mom and develop positive relationships with strangers without being concerned about “protecting” his mom, or being influenced by any anxiety she is feeling and projecting into him. This will also help her confidence in handling him when she’s seen that Scout can do it.

Scout is a great dog. This result was produced by using play and food in combination with predictable handling, muzzle training, and e-collar training (not used to punish!).

If you’re having behavioral issues with your dog, don’t wait for them to escalate. Call us at 571-520-2323 to learn more about our training programs!

Talk about a cool team! Chloe graduated from her private puppy program with her 10 year old handler, Bennett!

Chloe is a very passionate little puppy and lets you know all about her opinions. Bennett did a wonderful job of learning how and when to correct her, as well as how to build their relationship, stop puppy nipping, walk nicely on the leash, and reduce puppy barking.

Of course, we require adults to attend all lessons as well because children can’t be expected to be fully responsible for puppies. The adults are responsible if training “homework” falls behind. But Bennett did a very good job of staying engaged and doing most of the work himself, with the help of grandma, mom, and dad.

Congratulations all and hope to see you in support class!

Emmie graduated her private freedom program!! 🎓

When we started, Emmie was quite uncontrollably dog reactive. Her owners looked for help when they moved out of the country to a busier neighborhood in Falls Church. Emmie had never seen so many dogs before and didn’t know what to do! She struggled with overarousal and impulse control as well.

Through 8 lessons, Emmie, Tiana, and Sean learned techniques to re-focus Emmie, exercises to build her impulse control, and a solid understanding of the e-collar and how to use on low levels it as a communication tool; NOT just a punisher.

Emmie used to react, pull, lunge, growl, and bark at neutral dogs even across the street. Now she can quietly and calmly pass dogs on the same side of the sidewalk in the busy Mosaic District. Even this picture shows growth: Emmie was very concerned about the flying monkey behind her, but was able to re-center with some work nearby. Look how happy she looks!

Emmie is now much easier to handle, and although her training isn’t over yet, she will continue to grow in support class. This team has a bright future ahead of them!

Roulette is out practicing his long line work at Meridian Hill Park! Using play and exercises he enjoys, like spin, touch, and tug, we can create a dog who is very engaged with the handler.

Roulette needs a lot of this because he is becoming a teenager! Teenage dogs typically become super focused on the environment, other dogs, etc. It’s a natural developmental stage which we must guide them through!

Why lock up hundreds of thousands of dollars in a 5-year commercial lease before making your first sale? 🚐💰
The traditional brick-and-mortar model forces you into high overhead, expensive build-outs, and rigid geographic limits. The Dog Wizard "Trainer in the Van" model completely eliminates commercial rent.
✅ Low startup capital ✅ Rapid deployment into your territory ✅ Maximum operational agility

Moose graduated his Private Freedom course today!

Moose is a BIG Great Dane, about 180lbs, and lives in the middle of DC. Unfortunately, he was also reactive towards dogs and the occasional jogger. There are a ton of dogs where he lives, and walking him was an absolute nightmare, as you can imagine! No fun having to physically restrain a giant dog who is lunging on a tiny sidewalk.

Our last session was spent walking around Moose’s neighborhood. We encountered probably 15 dogs in an hour and Moose did not have a single reaction beyond an interested gaze. He has become relaxed and obedient even around his biggest trigger: tiny dogs!

Matt and John learned effective handling strategies and training techniques to redirect his focus and teach him impulse control. He is much less pushy at home and has better emotional control. Congratulations to all three of them and hope to see them soon at support class to continue their progress!
