she’s at the end!
I’ll have to say goodbye very soon to my 14 years old border collie. She’s my best friend, I’ve got her when I was 12 so we’ve been through a lot together. I’m not sure how I’ll deal with it honestly, even through I know she had a good life.
At least I have another one too, he’s almost 7 so not young either.

Said goodbye yesterday!
I took my best friend to the vet yesterday after some behavioral changes (stopped eating, withdrawing) I had a gut feeling something bad was going on. At 6 years old he was full of lymphoma. I was I’ll miss him for a very long time. Currently trying to process this huge loss and help my husky cope as well.

We thought we were getting a border collie.
Or at least a mostly-border collie. She was sick with pneumonia and matted and filthy when we first picked her up in January, but as she got better and cleaner we got suspicious that she was less BC than we'd thought. She was 45 pounds when we got her, 55 now. She's a handful but super sweet and lovey, except when she's barking at everything.

We got 2636 boops in this thread a few weeks ago and amazing amount of love. I had to send Shiva to heaven this morning. Could you please take a second. Hold your border collie and tell them you love them.

How friendly are your border collies?
My dog is a border collie mix, and he is very friendly. I took him to the vet for a routine checkup recently. He greets the vet, wagging his tail, licking the vet, and rolling on his back for belly rubs. Nothing unusual for this dog.
The vet then says, "Whatever your dog is mixed with, it's is good mix because he's really friendly for a border collie."
I dunno I thought that was a weird thing to say. I've never found other borders to be particularly unfriendly or anything.
