We’re hiring!!

Wanderpups has been walking the dogs of Capitol Hill since 2013, and we’re looking to add dependable midday walkers to our team.

Most of our walks happen between 10am–4pm, Monday through Friday, so consistent availability during those hours is essential.

This is steady, outdoor, independent work. It’s physical. It requires attention and good judgment. Some dogs are easy. Some require patience and skill. Reliability matters.

Friendly reminder to give your dog something to do inside since I’m guessing you’re dealing with your sixth day of snow like us! Dogs get bored and when outdoor time is limited they may turn to undesirable behaviors inside if not given enrichment. Doesn’t have to be hard. Give them a new chew toy, play tug of war, give them a food puzzle. Jax is chewing on a bully stick here. Usually he takes a nice long nap after thirty minutes of focused chewing.

Wanderpups is a woman- and veteran-owned dog walking company that has proudly served Capitol Hill since 2013. We’re looking for reliable, compassionate dog walkers to join our small, values-driven team.

This isn’t gig work. It’s trust, responsibility, and care.

Who We Are

Wanderpups is owned and operated by a dog professional with:

a Master’s degree in Canine Science

a dog training certification

over a decade of experience working with hundreds of dogs and families

We believe great dog care starts with understanding dogs, respecting their boundaries, and showing up consistently.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for good people.

You might be a great fit if you are:

dependable and consistent

calm, observant, and kind

committed to the welfare of animals

comfortable working independently

respectful of clients’ homes and dogs’ individual needs

Professional dog experience is a plus — but not required for the right person.

The Work

Midday dog walking (Monday–Friday)

Peak hours: 11 a.m.–2 p.m.

Busiest days: Tuesday–Thursday

Schedules are flexible within reason — consistency matters most

Our small service area means routes are condensed and walkable.

Location

We strongly prefer walkers who live on or near Capitol Hill. Staying hyper-local allows us to provide better care and maintain our neighborhood feel.

I’m a certified dog trainer, have a master’s in canine science and have worked in the dog business for over a decade.

One thing I wish families were taught sooner is how much dogs actually communicate and how to listen to them!

Obedience training is necessary, but over a lifetime with your dog, I believe understanding your dog’s body language is more important for quality of life.

Training matters- but it’s not the same as understanding.

An obedient dog doesn’t guarantee a comfortable dog.

Your dog is communicating. Are you listening?
