Wylagene “Willy” is a 2.5yo, spayed, UTD on vax, Valley Fever clear, purebred. 🐾✨ She’s housebroken, crate trained, and walks well on leash. 🦮🤍 She has lived with school aged kids 👧🧒 and a male ridgeback previously. 🐕 Cats are unknown. 🐱❓ She’s a pretty easy keeper. 😍 Just needs a little help getting back into shape 💪🐾, nothing a diet 🥗, personal trainer 🏋️‍♀️ and a four legged friend 🐶 can’t fix! “Willy” will also make you question your sanity 🤪😂, when you are folding your laundry. 🧺👕 Pairing your munchkins socks 🧦, wondering if the dyer ate them . . . nope . . . it was likely “Willy”. 😂🐾 So not only will she fill your home with love and laughter ❤️🤣, she will also make you a better housekeeper 🏡✨ because you have to make sure you account for all the socks before she does! 🧦👀🐶

“Willy” would do best in a home with another dog. 🐶🐶🤍
“Willy” is currently being fostered in the Phoenix, AZ area. 🌵☀️ If you think you may just be the forever home 🏡❤️ “Willy” has been looking for, fill out an application. ✨🐾

These adorable girls didn’t expect their lives to take this turn 🐾💔 Through no fault of their own, they found themselves in a Dallas, Texas area shelter, confused, a little scared, and dreaming of the life they once knew.

But sometimes, in our darkest hours, we meet the ones who are meant to make a real difference ✨ Thanks to our hardworking volunteers, RRRI was able to give these girls a second chance and a soft foster home to land in 🏡❤️

One of the girls has some wounds and lacerations on a hind leg that are being tended to and has been started on antibiotics 🩹🐕 Aside from that and a little extra “fluff” (nothing a diet and exercise can't fix! 😅), they appear to be in pretty good shape.

For now, they’re enjoying the good things in life again: sunny spots in the yard ☀️, butt scratches 🐶, the comfort of simply feeling safe 🤍, and a few snacks here and there (though they sure have their opinions on the diet part! 🍪😂)

If you would like to contribute toward the girls' care, you can do so here: https://bit.ly/DallasGirls 🙏

Thank you for your generous support of Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue, Inc. (EIN: 36-4239382). No goods or services were provided in exchange for this donation. It may be tax-deductible as permitted by law.

From living my best free-range farm dog life—open fields, zero rules, and dirt naps on demand—to suddenly clocking in as a full time, snack-less servant to your tiny, bossy little sister… yep, that’s the glamorous rescue life for me. 🐾

Steve is a really sweet, BIG, 3-year-old purebred boy who is settling in nicely after having a pretty confusing last six months. His owner passed away, and suddenly Steve was without his constant companion. Before long he found himself in a new home with two unfamiliar humans and two female Ridgebacks. So far, he’s handling the transition pretty well.

Given the sudden upheaval in his life, Steve can be a little hesitant with new people at first. Once he realizes everything is okay, though, he relaxes and shows what a good dog he is. He doesn't put up much of a fight about being handled. His fosters have pushed his comfort zone a bit and he’s allowed nail dremeling, teeth brushing, ear cleaning, and even mouth checks without much protesting.

Around the house, Steve is a pretty easy keeper. He was used to being crated in his previous home, but with his fosters he has free roam when they’re gone and has done very well. They have a dog door and he enjoys letting himself out to wander the fully fenced yard and do some sniffing. When he first arrived, he barked at the neighbor’s dog through the fence, but after being told to knock it off he hasn’t done it again.

He has great manners around food. Steve waits patiently for dinner and has shown absolutely no food aggression. Like many curious Ridgebacks, he does enjoy cruising the counters and he has nosed open the garbage lid, but so far, he hasn’t fully channeled his inner trash panda.

Where Steve needs the most work right now is on leash. When he sees other dogs out on walks, whether in the neighborhood or at the beach, he can get pretty excited and will pull hard toward them and sometimes vocalize… think a fish on a line. When he sees people, he’ll often pull toward them as well, but without the barking and not in an aggressive way. The challenge is that because of his size, that enthusiasm can look intimidating, especially since his fosters live in a retirement community where many of the dogs are considerably smaller than Steve (think David and Goliath)!

When Steve played with the female neighbor dog he was a little rough and a little humpy. He has already stopped trying that with his foster sisters. Hopefully that behavior, with other dogs, will continue to improve with consistency.

He does have a bit of separation anxiety, since his fosters are home most of the time it hasn’t been a big issue. Steve isn't especially food motivated (is he even a Ridgeback?!?), so training takes a little more patience.

When Steve was neutered, a lump on his rear thigh was removed and identified as a mast cell tumor (MCT). The pathology showed clean margins and it was low grade, so no additional treatment was needed. Steve was started on a protocol of H1 (Claritin) and H2 (Pepcid) blockers, which are recommended for him long-term.

Overall, Steve is a really good boy with a sweet nature who just needs some continued work with leash manners and managing his excitability. With a little patience and guidance, he’s going to make someone a wonderful companion.

Steve is being fostered in the Seattle area.

URGENT!! POTENTIAL FOSTER HOME NEEDED for a 3-year-old neutered male Ridgeback picked up as a stray in the Sacramento area. His tail appears to have been docked at some point; it could have been due to a kink or “happy tail,” your guess is as good as ours!

He arrived at the shelter today (2/26) and will be on a 10-day owner hold since he is microchipped. If he has not been claimed after his waiting period is over, we will need a foster home ready and waiting in order for rescue to pull him from the shelter.

As we do not have much information about him or know his background, this needs to be a home experienced with the Ridgeback breed and willing to work with him so we can get to know him better.

The limited information we do have is that he was found in the early morning hours nudging the doorknob of a house. The noise woke the residents, who opened the door, and he walked right in as if he were home. The residents graciously fed and cared for him for a few days, but they were not in a position to keep him or to hold onto him for the 30-day “Good Samaritan” hold period before they could legally find him a home.

While in their care, he rode well in the truck and got along well with their children and resident dog. He walks well on a leash and knows a few commands, but he did have a few accidents in the house (although he used the dog door twice), so he will need extra attention in that area.

If you are in California (Bay Area and Sacramento area are preferred) and are interested in fostering, please contact Sheri at [email protected] or message us on Facebook.
