There are so many different toys on the market especially for cats and kittens, but take it from this multi cat owner, many of them are unsafe.

If you have a cat like mine, well... he eats everything, and if what goes in does not come out, skilled veterinarians like those at Adams Morgan, will become your best chance of removing a blockage and saving kitty's life.

First it was a little fuzzy craft ball...three to be exact. Next it was a fuzzy mouse! Be weary of the things kitty plays with, avoid anything small enough to be swallowed, string, ribbon, bells and feathers, glued on plastic eyes, rattle beads and dangerous fillings.

Do a simple double check of the toy basket, if they can swallow it, chances are, they will.

It's almost here! The changing colors, the crisp air, brisk walks & falling leaves... Autumn is upon us and we need to prepare our pets for new (and some dangerous) experiences.

Pests trying to make their way into a warm house...be wary of where your pets like to frequently visit, avoid areas where pesticides are used.

School is in session, and kids carry things in their backpacks that curious pets find amusing and maybe even edible. This can cause illness and serious blockages.

The right (and wrong) foods can have a huge effect on our cats.

For example, some of the best cat foods aren't cat food at all. Try serving them cooked chicken, beef, salmon and turkey (unseasoned, unsmoked)
hard boiled eggs, packed w/amino acids and highly digestible.
blueberries, as a treat, good source of antioxidants and fiber.

STAY AWAY FROM....Chocolate & caffeine, onions & garlic (in any form), dairy, grapes and raisins (can cause kidney failure)

REMEMBER TO CHECK WITH YOUR VET before starting your pet on any new diet or introducing new foods to their existing meals.
