It is never another dog's job to teach a younger dog how to move through the world...
But it would be wrong to dismiss the phenomenal role Remy plays in Éowyn's service dog (in training) journey. He helps her process the world in ways that I, as a human, just cant.
Social learning / social buffering is a beautiful thing.

There are many ways to build a relationship between a dog and handler. Which one(s) do you & your dog prefer?

Happy Monday!
Make sure to get out and enjoy some low stress, high vibes, time with your dogs.
A huge part of training & behavior modification relies on relationship & social bonding. So feeling like you're cheating / avoiding your homework by having an easy day, is ACTUALLY CRITICAL for your long term training success.

I love all the animals I work with, but I originally started back in 1997 with horses. Even today, I find smell of a horse to be the most beautiful smell in the world. It is pure happiness to my soul.
Sorry Samson that I gave the dogs all my animal crackers. I'll bring you extra next time. 🥰

Éowyn goes to a concert!
when planning SD(iT) public access training events, I prefer to slowly ease into the "final picture" activities with very low pressure approximations like this.

If I had paid for tickets to go see a local theater production or touring musician, I would (intentionally or not) feel pressure to be perfect and it can bring a lot of stress to what should truly be a simple skill slide into this new context/ environment. By going to my nephew's concert, we had seats and space a plenty, I was surrounded by family that could step in / assist if I had any medical issues crop up, and we always had an easy option to leave the auditorium and escape to the outside / my car if the need arose.

Did I / Wyn need any of those back up plans?
Nope!
Did having them make me feel better and not unintentionally bring conflict/pressure to Wyn's outing?
Absolutely!

Happy Easter to those who celebrate.
Remember that buying animals just for a holiday is pretty unethical, but repurposing a child's animal themed headband to take silly pictures for the holidays is a fun time for all.
(I especially love everyone's various treat faces. 😜🤣🥰)

The internet is quick to rage, especially for baby animals... but let's talk about why Punch's bio mom isnt the enemy, and this little macaque's story is indeed a happy tale of primate perseverance!
