Hi, I'm Scott McCall! I recently landed here at Haven of the Ozarks with some nice people who are taking good care of me. I like it here, but I'm told a real home with a family of my own is even better! I'm friendly and get along great with other cats, so I'd thrive in a home with feline friends. I'm just a year old, so I have just the right amount of energy-not too wild but still lots of fun. I would love to find some people to love me, and I'm already neutered and ready to go. Please come meet me soon!

Pax ❤️

One of life’s great mysteries. Pax: a dog who loves water, but at the same time hates a bath. Make it make sense! 😂

Pax was just picked up from Haven of the Ozarks as a hot weather foster to spend a little time in the air-conditioning, but needed a quick scrub in the tub before he headed to his foster home. (We’re betting he’s found his forever home! 🤞🤫)

We are never going to adopt our way out of the animal crisis.

After nearly 15 years in animal welfare, one thing has become painfully clear to me: our local shelters cannot fix this crisis by themselves.

Their job is to manage the overwhelming number of animals our communities continue sending through their doors. They are treating the symptoms of a much larger problem—and then we blame them when the kennels are full.

If we truly want things to change, the work has to begin long before an animal reaches the shelter.

We have to spay and neuter our pets. We have to educate people about responsible ownership. We have to help struggling families keep the animals they love. We have to support animal control, strengthen enforcement and hold irresponsible owners accountable.

Most importantly, we have to stop standing on the sidelines and expecting shelter employees and volunteers to carry this entire crisis on their shoulders.

The shelter is where we manage the crisis.

The community is where we change it.

Every one of us has a role to play. 🐾

Armani is a good boy who was adopted as a puppy but then returned due to his adopter's severe allergies. His mix is Great Pyr, possibly with Lab. Armani's age is 9 months. We'd love to find him a forever home or even a foster home to take a break from this awful heatwave. Please help if you can!

Adorable Phil is just one of many dogs at the Haven who would love a forever home with a family of his own. However, with this heat, Phil and his friends would also be so grateful for a foster home to ride out this heat wave (that has no end in sight). Each day this drags on is a little harder on our dogs. We're extra appreciative of the donations that are allowing our new climate controlled dog building to be built, it's just not quite ready yet. Very soon, though! For now, please help if you can.

Hi, I'm Mike Wheeler! I'm a handsome 5-year-old brown tabby with white markings who's already litter box trained and ready to settle into your home. I absolutely love the company of other cats, and I'm known for being affectionate and cuddly — I'm the kind of guy who enjoys a good snuggle session. I'm loyal to my people, and at just over 12 pounds, I'm the perfect lap-warming companion. Please come meet me soon and help make my stay at the Haven a short one!

Small dogs Timmy, Tipton, and Tristan are neutered and ready to go home! They're adorable little guys who will make great additions to nearly any home. Come meet them today!

If you aren't ready to adopt, please consider fostering a dog through this ridiculous weather and help give them a break from the heat.

If you've been following our page, you'll remember Alani. This pretty 8 month old girl is growing up at the Haven, which makes us sad. The sanctuary is great, but puppies should be in a home learning all about family life. Alani is a good girl who gets along with kids, cats, and other dogs (although she needs to be fed separately), but she's lacking experiences that come from being in a home. She'll do great in her family but will need some help learning about things in the "real world." Can you teach her? And hopefully love her forever?

If you can't adopt, please consider fostering a dog or puppy through this horrible and neverending heat wave! The Haven is open 9-4 each day, so come get your new best friend.

Yikes! No end to the oppressive heat just yet. Please let us know if you can help foster one of our sweet dogs to give them a break from the weather. We're so glad our climate controlled dog building will soon be ready, but for now we need a little assistance getting our dogs through this hot spell. Thank you!

Meet Bugsy! This handsome boy recently came to the Haven with several of his family members. He's used to living with other cats and using a litter box, so he'll be a perfect addition to his new indoor home. His age is about 8 months, and Bugsy would love to have a family waiting to take him home after his trip to the vet!

Speaking of indoor homes, we'd love to send some pups to foster homes to get out of this heat. The longer it drags on (with no sign of letting up), the harder it is on the dogs. Thankfully, our new dog building will be ready before too long, so our next severe weather event will be easier to navigate! But for now, please help if you can!
