A note from Josie's mom:

Today Josie and I are at the Newfoundland Club of America National Specialty in Rhode Island. Around noon she will be entering the show ring as part of the 2026 class of Living Legends. This honor goes to dogs that have achieved an age greater than 10. Life expectancy for Newfoundlands is roughly 8-10 years. Josie is 12½. She is in very good health for her age. Her only real health issue is arthritis and it is well manage with a low does of medication. This achievement is not my accomplishment. I give Josie and God all the credit for this. I hope to post a picture of her from the ring and with her medal later. She has spent her life looking out for me, I am so glad I have a way to honor her and celebrate that she is just an absolute blessing.

In just over a week I will be 12. Most people think I give off puppy energy still. I am glad the heat of summer is over. I love fall. Mom and I used to take beautiful nature walks in fall. We don't take long walks any more. I think my mom has gotten old.

What does a nearly 12 year old Newfoundland do after hanging out with a puppy for 4 days? She finds her spot on the couch and passes out. Mom thinks I might still be snoring at this time tomorrow. 🤣

For those of you who do not know the average life expectancy of a Newfoundland is only 8-10 years.

Today Grizzly the Berner - BMD and I enjoyed relaxing in the yard with mom. Her cedar log swing makes excellent afternoon shade. Tonight dad says there will be a bonfire. Right now dad is grilling ribs, making Mac n cheese mom can eat, and coleslaw. Mom has needed us alot more lately. I hope she feels better soon.

The first "home" I knew with my mom was a Residence Inn in Kansas City. In the 11½ years since she brought me home we have traveled to 17 different states(more than 150,000 miles). We have stayed at a Residence Inn in most of those states. Momma loves their pet policy and that many of the staff along the journey have been dog lovers. Today mom and I (and my do**us brother Grizzly the Berner - BMD) are hanging out on the patio enjoying the sunshine while under the shade of the big umbrella. To any of the staff that have come to know us and might follow me thank you for making our home away from home a wonderful experience.

The rescue that my brother Grizzly, aunt Cleo, and neice Marlee came from are having a fund raiser. Can you help us reach all 50 states? They are a wonderful rescue that focuses on Newfoundlands but tries to help any dog in need. If you can please share this until we get those last few states. Also if you want to help us sell all the pumpkins you can sponsor one of them.

If I wind the OG will put a Skeleton in her yard and take a picture with it. If I lose I'm 💯 sure what will happen

Mom says I am starting to show a bit of my age. It makes her sad. I told her that I will always be her sassy puppy, that as a Landseer that white is normal.
