Watching the sunset with Sunny girl ☀️🌅

Andy, our little black-and-white cow, having the time of his life with a big ol’ wad of grass. 🤎🐄🌿 Sometimes joy really is this simple.

There’s a lot we can learn from the way animals care for one another, following, checking in, staying close, and knowing when to give space. 🤎

Mama Jade and her boys, Clay & Cooper, giving us a little lesson in relationships. 🐐

Part of my job? Feeding Tank peanut butter cookies. 🐮🥜🍪

Sometimes therapy looks like slowing down, connecting with animals, and sharing a little joy. This is what coming to session on the farm can look like. 🤎

A little too-big fly mask and a whole lot of sass from our baby Gracie. 🐴

Gracie has a personality all her own, and that’s one of the things I love most about our animals. They each show up differently, some are gentle and quiet, some are curious, and some make sure you know exactly what they’re thinking.

There’s something therapeutic about being around animals who simply let us be ourselves, too. 💗

Sometimes the most meaningful moments in equine-assisted psychotherapy happen without a single word. 🤎🐴

The herd gives clients space to practice connection, communication, boundaries, trust, and simply being present, while the horses offer their own honest feedback along the way.

Sometimes, the herd teaches us more than we realize. 🤎

I sat down in the sunshine during one of today’s sessions, and DJ quietly followed my lead. 🤎 He made his way over and settled into the chair right beside me.

In therapy, we talk about how much safety and connection can be communicated without words, sometimes through simply matching another’s pace, energy, or presence.

Thank you, DJ, for reminding us that sometimes the most meaningful connection comes from meeting someone exactly where they are. 🐐☀️🤎

There’s just something about a sanctuary animal having a stuffed animal of their own. 🥹

Tank absolutely loves his stuffed friends, especially when he finds one that looks just like him. 🐮😂 Watching these animals find comfort, joy, and companionship in the simplest things never gets old. 🤎

Sending out the BIGGEST congratulations to our very deserving Director of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Lillian, on her professorship in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Marist University. Your students are equally as lucky to have you as we are here at EHC ❤️

Our sheep Peaches has the right idea for these last few days of summer: soak up the sunshine, slow down, and enjoy where you are. ☀️🐑
