About the Rhode Island SPCA: Founded in 1870, the Rhode Island SPCA is the oldest humane animal welfare organization in the state of Rhode Island and the third oldest in the United States. As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, it does not receive any local or federal funding nor is it affiliated with any national humane organization. It relies on donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations to provide critical programs and services for the animals and people in the community. Donations should be addressed to the Rhode Island SPCA. The RISPCA is not affiliated with the ASPCA.

A label doesn't define a dog, and appearance doesn't determine personality. Like any dog, bully breeds deserve kindness, understanding, and a fair chance at finding their forever homes.

Behind every healthy, happy animal is a team of dedicated veterinary professionals who give so much of themselves to make a difference. From comforting nervous patients and providing lifesaving care to celebrating the little victories, our vet techs show up every day with compassion, patience, and an incredible amount of heart!
The work isn’t always easy, but their dedication never goes unnoticed. We are so grateful for our amazing veterinary team and everything they do for the animals in our care!

Meet Grape Nut & Shredded Wheat!

Some things are just better together, and these boys are proof! Grape Nut and Shredded Wheat came to us back in February with nearly 100 other cats, and somewhere along the way, they became the very best of friends 🥹

These two are total lovebugs, the most confident of their crew, and practically attached at the hip! Whether they’re demanding affection, playing together, or following their favorite humans around for food, they’re always happiest side by side. They’ve got the sweetness, the silliness, and the snuggles down pat!

Like his One Piece namesake, Luffy is always ready to be part of the action! This handsome boy is personable, attentive, and curious about everything happening around him. Luffy came to us with a bondmate, but they discovered they weren’t quite the right crewmates for each other. Now, Luffy is searching for his own crew! He’ll need a compatible guinea pig buddy to share his adventures with.
