To lovingly guide abandoned and orphan mamma cats and kittens toward their intended forever family

10/01/2026

It's October 1st which means it's officially spooky season! Diana has been preparing her best "Halloween scaredy cat" pose and we think she nailed it! 🐈‍⬛️🎃👻

She may not be a black cat, but we think her dolute Torti coat is still on brand for the season since it almost looks like a pile of fall leaves. Either way, Diana would be the purrfect cozy companion this fall because she's the full package: outgoing, affectionate, and playful.

To adopt Diana before spooky season ends, submit a non-binding application at www.stgertruderescue.org/adopt

As we shared last week, we recently lost a baby girl who was so young, we hadn't even named her yet. As we do with every orphaned kitten, we tried our absolute best, but she unfortunately crossed the rainbow bridge. She may have had a fighting change with a proper incubator.

Did you know newborn kittens can't regulate their own body temperature? This isn't a problem for kittens with mamas to keep them warm, but orphaned kittens require constant care so they can use all of their energy to grow big and strong. Heating pads and human snuggles are a great start, but an incubator would give the most vulnerable kittens in our care the best chance at surviving and thriving.

Your donation will go directly towards the purchase of this vital piece of equipment to support us in our mission to lovingly guide abandoned and orphaned cats and kittens towards their intended forever family. Kitten rescue has its good days and its bad and we're grateful to find happy moments on the bad ones. This morning we lost one of our bottle babies, leaving her orphaned brother all alone. He has plenty of human love, but we noticed one of our older kittens, Dolores, also comforting him. It absolutely melts our hearts ❤️‍🩹

That feeling when it's the first day of fall and still 90 degrees outside...

Dolores can't wait for the weather to cool off a little so she can enjoy her favorite fall activities, like cuddling up with her human to watch Halloween movies or college football games! If these are your favorite fall activities too, submit a non-binding application at www.stgertruderescue.org/adopt to have Dolores join you!
