Important! Get those rabies! 1st confirmed case (bat) in Pettis County in years.

🚨 RABIES ALERT – A REMINDER TO VACCINATE YOUR PETS 🚨

Sedalia-Pettis County has had its first confirmed positive rabies test in a number of years. The animal that tested positive was a bat.

While rabies cases are uncommon, the disease is nearly 100% fatal once symptoms appear. The good news? It is also nearly 100% preventable through vaccination.

This serves as a friendly reminder to make sure your pets are current on their rabies vaccinations. Rabies doesn't just affect pets—it can be transmitted to people as well. Vaccinating your pet helps protect your family, your neighbors, and our community.

Missouri law requires dogs and cats over five months of age to be vaccinated against rabies and maintain a current vaccination status.

If you find a bat acting strangely, a wild animal behaving aggressively, or your pet has contact with wildlife, please contact Animal Control and your veterinarian immediately.

A simple vaccine can save lives.

🐾 Protect your community.

🧡 Learn More About this Condition and Help Us Help Colton See Comfort Again 🧡

Colton is dealing with a painful eye condition called entropion.

Entropion happens when a cat’s eyelid rolls inward. When that happens, the lashes and fur rub against the eye, which can cause pain, squinting, tearing, discharge, infection, ulcers, and even vision loss if it is not treated.

For Colton, this is more than just an irritated eye. It is uncomfortable, medically urgent, and something that needs proper veterinary care.

Cats with entropion may show signs like:

🐾 Squinting or keeping the eye closed
🐾 Watery eyes or wet fur around the eye
🐾 Thick or colored discharge
🐾 Redness, swelling, or cloudiness
🐾 Rubbing or pawing at the eye
🐾 Sensitivity to light

Some mild cases can be managed temporarily with medication, but many cats need surgery to correct the eyelid and stop it from rubbing against the eye.

That is the care we are working toward for Colton.

💛 You can help Colton by donating directly to this post or by visiting:
warrensburgcatadvocates.org/donate

Every donation helps us get Colton the medical care he needs to feel better, heal properly, and move forward without constant eye pain.

Thank you for helping us say yes to cats like Colton when they need us most. 🐾

Meet Colton, Colton is a community cat that recently was trapped. He just went through surgery and requires a possible second.
🚨🐱🚨🐱🚨🐱🚨🐱🚨🐱🚨🐱🚨🐱🚨

Our vet stated that this was one of the worst eye cases he has encountered. Not just by what you see here but the way his eye was behaving during the first surgery.

💌We would like to raise $600 to cover his bill and after care which may include that second surgery in 2 weeks.💌

Given all the care he is receiving, his semi-feral ways may tame down to a cat who recognizes the care humans are capable of providing the voiceless like him.

Please help Colton.
