What a morning! THANK YOU for everyone's support! I got to meet so many amazing dogs and their humans!

Lots of dogs enjoyed pup cups and went home sporting new bandanas! I had a ton of fun participating in Dog Day at Warrensburg Farmers' Market ❤️🐾

Congratulations Misty! 🐾

Misty is an adolescent Golden Retriever / Lab mix who started working with me months ago to work on arousal regulation, polite greetings, engagement, leash skills, and recall.

Her owners have put in the work 💪 and she has made immense progress! They have everything they need to set her up for success moving forward, which means Misty is transitioning from regular sessions to sessions as needed!

I'm so proud of Misty and her family. ❤️ It has been a pleasure to watch their relationship strengthen as Misty matures and learns new skills!

I'm set up downtown 5-7pm! I've got $1 bandanas as well as enrichment toys, seat belts, long lines, clickers, and more!

Hershey is seven months old and has hit a fear period.

Young puppies are brand new to the world and are typically enthusiastic about investigating things and being curious. However, some puppies hit a point when they realize things can hurt them. They don't know what is a threat to them and what isn't. This can lead to fidgety, nervous behavior.

Hershey is displaying nervous behavior when guests visit and is having startled responses to simple things. How do we approach a fear period? Patience and confidence building.

It helps to be nonchalant and not overreact to the puppy's fear. Allowing the puppy to interact with items they may be afraid of on their own terms is one way to build confidence.

During today's session, Hershey went from barking at me and avoiding his new harness to sitting patiently while his owner partially put his harness on him. He's such a brave boy who showed a good amount of resilience. I can't wait to see him come out the other side of his fear period!
