The Trump Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is investigating veterinary consolidation amid petflation costs.

The Trump FTC has issued Civil Investigative Demands (CIDs)—legally binding requests requiring companies to produce documents and information—to all parties involved in the proposed Covetrus-MWI Animal Health merger as part of an investigation into potential antitrust concerns.

If approved, the merger would reduce the number of major national veterinary distributors from three to two, with the combined Covetrus-MWI company controlling up to 75 percent of the market.

Local antitrust attorney Joel Thayer told the Daily Caller the merger would dramatically reshape the veterinary distribution market, arguing it would leave one company with overwhelming control over prices and terms.

“It’s looking more like it’s going from, instead of a 3 to 2, it’s looking like it’s going to a 2 to 1, where one company is going to basically dictate all the terms and prices for that type of veterinary service.”

Research from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has also found that some pet owners have surrendered their animals because they could no longer afford or access necessary veterinary care.

Recent numbers also show that 22 percent of pet owners now carry more than $2,000 in pet-related debt, as the lifetime cost of owning a dog has climbed to roughly $35,000, with the cost of owning a cat not far behind, according to a Gallup poll.

It had been brought to our attention that some think Dr. Corn isn't working anymore. First of all if she ever plans to retire(and we all hope not 🥰) she would let everyone know. Dr. Corn Is out of the country doing her continuing education, that is why anyone who tries to get ahold of her, some get a weird message or none at all.
If you need to make an appointment, have meds to be filled or have any questions please call Sandy @ 248-990-6220, and I will help you to the best of my ability.
Dr. Corn will be back to work May 26th, due to her having surgery on a finger when she returns from her continuing education.
Thank you for your patience & understanding.
Sandy

Check out this fiery chunk of adorable beast, at 11 weeks he's almost 30lbs! He's gonna be one ginormous goofball. Love that little black face paint and he's got four socks to match his sneaky mask. And he aced his physical exam like a total boss!

Meet this beautiful girl Baby, her story is she kept getting out from where she used to live & would run over to her new daddy's house. They couldn't take care of her so her new daddy took her in. She is so sweet & friendly & full of energy- had a hard time getting a good picture of her as Baby won't sit still. She's even winking in one of them. She couldn't have picked a better dad to spend the rest of her life with!

As one of Dr. Corn's technicians, she started out as my vet back in 2012, I told her I was a certified veterinary technician graduated in 2010, & she asked if she could use me if her assistant was unable to work & of course I said yes.
Disappointed that only happened once. But then her assistant wasnt able to work due to medical issues. So I stepped into her position back in 2017, then due to my medical issues it was a bit too much & that's when her other awesome technician Kim Molesky Arbour joined us! We hit it off almost right away, so she's my boss & bff. Sometimes we get asked if we're sisters for the we act together & we do travel together sometimes, it's amazing we can stand each other still 😆
She has taught me a lot since I've been out of school, she is the best boss anyone could ask for. She takes good care of her technicians & her clients. The best part of a mobile vet is we get to spend more time with our clients & we get to know you & your furbabies better & get close to you all. Another part of my job I love is, when Dr. Corn is out of town (& I didn't go with her) I will have the schedule book & help with appointments & if certain medical needs are needed, I will come to you & give certain shots, drop off meds, fill meds to be picked up. I am thankful that Dr. Corn liked my idea of helping her out in that way. I dread the day she retires, I will miss the job & mostly I will miss all you, our treasured clients! Know that she is the most honest no bs vet, she never pushes what is not needed for your furbabies like corporations clinics do. If she's stumped about something she works her hardest to figure it out, she doesnt give up. Dr. Corn truly loves her job & works so hard for you all! We are so lucky to have her!

A long-overdue congratulations to Dr. Corn and BC Vet Home Care. Many of you may or may not be aware that Dr. Corn has achieved a significant milestone in her business, as this year marks 20 years. I requested that Dr. Corn share the story of how she started her business. This is her story.
20 years ago, after working at multiple clinics, I decided to open my own business. Thinking outside the box, I saw the need for a housecall veterinarian in Macomb County. There were no loans for such a thing available, so I opened credit cards to start my business. I worked by myself with no technician. At first, I would have four house calls a week, so I would do fill-in work for local vets' clinics. I never dreamed how it would take off. Now I have two technicians and do 7-8 house calls a day, and sometimes more with fit-ins, and we're booked out a month in advance. I thank those that have been loyal to our business. I believe in supporting small businesses and appreciate the loyalty I have received from my technicians and clients. Thank you for making BC Veterinarian Home Care a success.
