I would like to take a minute to address all the negative comments we got earlier on our post about free dog food. We have an ongoing pet pantry that is available to the public when they are caught between pay periods or for someone who has hit hard times. We never want people to have to surrender their pets due to not being able to feed them. We are already overrun with dogs that do not get claimed. We have been very fortunate with the amount of donations we receive and we will never be greedy with them. Purina in Dunkirk NY has been very generous to us over the last couple years and has given us so much that some of the dog food has reached its expiration date. Yes it is still safe to use and we do continue to use it for months after the expiration date, but the amount that we had made it impossible for us to be able to use in the time allowed for us, therefore instead of letting it go bad and throwing it in the dumpster we gave back to our community. As a nonprofit that runs off donations we are constantly having to ask for things and when we can we are so thrilled to be able to give back to the community that helps us so much throughout the year. Our pet pantry this year has been able to supply approximately 1500 pounds of pet food to our community. The last time we had extra like that we took it to the Salvation Army to distribute at their food bank for those that had pets. So to answer all the negative comments yes we could have held on to it and then thrown the rest away which would have been a total waste. Our current animals at the shelter are very fortunate to have an abundance of food and treats at the moment and will not go without! Thank you to those who support us and see why we do things like this!

INFORMATION WANTED!!!

Looking for anyone who may have information on the owner of this dog. He was spotted yesterday by kayakers up at Roper Hollow Boat Launch and Great Dames Trap & Recover jumped into action to trap him. He is now safe at Paws but we would like to know who the owner is! If you have any information please send us a private message here on Facebook. You can remain anonymous.
