Stephanie posted a little while ago and mentioned that one of our rescues, Mira, is at the vet in SC extremely ill. It was suggested we do a post just about Mira so here it is:

Mira is a three-year-old German Shepherd, whose rescue was facilitated by our rescue partner in South Carolina. Mira is currently very ill the veterinarian with what it appears to be an intestinal blockage. 😢

Mira had unfortunately escaped several weeks ago and it took awhile to to get her back because she became skittish when she was running loose. Even though food was regularly put out for her, she has lost a significant amount of weight and then this morning it was found that she had vomited overnight, and the vomiting continued through the morning, despite giving her appropriate nausea and other medicine.

Mira’s gums are very pale, indicating potential anemia, whether it’s from weight loss or possibly internal bleeding, and she is very listless. Normally she’s a bounce off the walls happy girl!

The veterinary examination and diagnostics alone will probably be several hundred dollars even with a rescue discount, but if she has to have hospitalization and or surgery for an intestinal blockage, it will run into the thousands.

So we are seeking donations for Mira’s care as her condition is very serious and appears to be life-threatening. We will update with an estimate for her care late today. First photo is when she was healthy and the others are from today at the veterinary hospital.

Hello everyone!! So unfortunately as you can see we haven't posted in a few weeks...that's because of the issues with getting a "charity bureau" number through NY state....we have to have this number in order to move forward with licensing....so I've been VERY careful NOT to disobey any rules or laws put forth by the dept of agriculture....I've been very conservative so i felt it was best to not post until I felt more comfortable....my apologies for my lack of communication....so the good news is that we are moving forward with this number BUT OF COURSE anything to do with NY state requires money!!! So annoying....so today we are asking for some help....for 2 things....but I also happy to announce we have a foster who's willing to foster a young GSD so if you know if any who need help, pls let us know....secondly....one of our pups is seriously sick....Mira we think has a blockage and we want to help with her bills....she's at the vet currently so we're posting our platforms below and we're hoping since we haven't posted asking for donations in a while, we'll get some help to help Mira!

Thirdly....we need to raise the $ for thr charity bureau's application....it's roughly $250....again our platform are below....

Fourthly....we are moving forward with STILL trying to find a home for Avala! We cannot understand why she's still in foster. Her foster mama has tried everything to find her a home with no luck!!! We will do a big post about her tomorrow, as I do have something up my sleeve....so stay tuned!

Right now since it's Friday and we haven't done a fundraiser in a while....we're hoping that we can do a $5 FRIDAY FUNDRAISER! So if you can participate in donating your five dollars, please do so platforms below. Also a few pics of beautiful mirror at the vet, please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!

05/14/2026

Well, we have had one hell of a week, that I'm still reeling from! As many know, my partner works in NYC, and unfortunately, we have two homes as the commute from the Hudson Valley down to NYC is and can be very, very taxing and tiring… So he spends half the week down there and then half a week in the Hudson Valley with me… One of the reasons that I fell for him was because he had an incredible love of dogs, and when I met his little puffball, Mia, she was the sweetest thing ever! For those of you who know me personally, y'all know that I am not a small dog person, so when he told me he had a small dog, I wasn't sure if we were going to last lol🤣🤣🤣 but I met her, and she is just the sweetest little thing going! We have not really had the opportunity to spend a good 10 days to two weeks, acclimating her to my pack, so she spends her time in Brooklyn, with half the week with her pet sitter and the other half with Jose! Last week he was at work and got a frantic phone call from the pet sitter that she was in bad shape… Fast-forward 12 hours later and she was on her deathbed… at only seven years old we couldn't figure out what was going on, but her organs were failing, and then the dreaded phone call came from the vet that she had pyometra!! anybody who knows pyo knows that you need to have immediate surgery or the outcome is death… She was in such grave condition , they had to wait till they had antibiotics on board and got her rehydrated and made her stable enough to go into surgery, that's how bad she was… Fast-forward 10 days, and $15,000 later, she is back to her normal little spunky self… Two things I want to address, I am not a proponent of Spaying or neutering dogs while they are still puppies are even young adults… Whenever anybody has asked me, my go to response is at least two years old for females and 2 1/2 years old for males, pushing it to three if possible… Quite frankly, it's nobody's business what you do with your dogs, so if you choose to keep your dogs, intact, that's your business, but please do not breed unless you are a breeder, or you know what you're doing, AND you have several homes already lined up for the litter of puppies you're about to have! And please research how deadly pyo is! The really upsetting thing now that she is OK, was the response from the vet staff… I couldn't get over how cold and nasty they were, when my partner is literally on the phone in tears, asking how much the bill was going to be, and getting a quote of $15,000 or "we could just euthanize her"!! I don't understand what is happening with veterinary medicine these days, as I understand hospitalization and surgery is expensive, but $15,000! I could see $5000, but $15,000!?? By the grace of God we have credit cards and had the money, but I honestly don't know one person who has $15,000 laying around, and knowing that their animal was going to be euthanized is absolutely heartbreaking… Something has to be done because leaving an owner facing either a $15,000 bill or euthanasia is just not acceptable! And I completely and totally understand and respect that those in veterinary medicine need to get paid, but charging somebody $15,000 is absolutely despicable!

I'm going to put this out there, and I would like everybody to know that this is an option! It is not mandatory, it is not even suggested, it's an option… I don't know how much of my own personal money that I have dumped into this organization but suffice to say it's in the thousands, probably tens of thousands of dollars over the last 12 years that we've existed.... unfortunately, any dogs that are in our care right now, or any dogs that are even being thought about coming into our organization, there is no extra money, meaning my personal money… Nine out of 10 times when we haven't had the money needed, I would always front the money, and most of the time not paying myself back because quite honestly this is something that I love. However, things are extremely tight right now, and I'm asking those of you who know me personally, know what I do personally for this organization, and know that I have put years and years of blood, sweat and tears, including financial assistance into this organization, if you would like to help with a donation to help pay off our $15,000 bill, for me, feel free to send a donation to my personal Venmo account, which is below… Please understand that this was a horrible decision that had to be made, however, our pack is our life, just like our kids, and there isn't anything that we wouldn't do for them!

Secondly, I am absolutely devastated to realize and recognize that my sweetheart of a boy, and my daughter's dog pride has pretty bad hip dysplasia… He's not even seven years old, and is having trouble walking, running, and using stairs… I would like to ask those of you who have dealt with dogs who have orthopedic issues, what supplements have you found that have been helpful, and what prescription medicines have you found that have alleviated some of the issues… Pride is from a very well known and respected breeder, and I know his parents, and they are in fantastic health… Sometimes things just happen… It's breaking my heart recognizing that he is in pain, and we're doing things right now before our vet appointment so that he has some relief, but I would like to hear from everybody your thoughts on supplements and prescription meds that have helped your dogs…

Lastly, things have been slow on the front, as I've been dealing with all of these issues, and unfortunately, AVALA's Foster cannot foster her in June, so we are desperately looking for another Foster for her, hoping we can get her up into the New England area… We do have a possibility of somebody in New Hampshire, so please keep your fingers crossed that we can get her a permanent home!

Oh, and one last thing, thank you for those of you who donated for her Transport cost, I do want to ask that we still have an outstanding bill for Diesel and his obedience training, only $100… I'm leaving up our platforms, so if you'd like to help, that would be extremely generous of you! Right now we don't really need monetary support other than for Diesel, and a little bit of money to get from New York to New Hampshire if that goes through… So if you'd like to help, please use our platforms below… And again, my own personal platform, can be used if you'd like to help with our ridiculous $15,000 bill… Please know that even if you choose to help me, that overall will be helping our organization as that will be able to give me some extra personal money to use, Should something come up...

Couple of pictures of Jose with Mia, and lastly, the picture of my daughter with one of our very first dogs we rescued Zoey! Man, she was a handful! A very dominant female, but one of the sweetest dogs that I've ever come through our doors!

That's it for now we'll be back with some pictures of AVALA as soon as I can get them uploaded!

Hello everybody!! Apologies for not keeping everybody updated with our plans, my partner, Jose, has a sweet little half Chihuahua half Pomeranian named Mia, and she right now is in very grave condition! By the grace of God, her pet sitter, recognized that she was trending downhill, and took her to the emergency clinic where they diagnosed her with PYO… Unfortunately, she was too sick last night to go into emergency surgery, so by the grace of God they were able to stabilize her, and she is in surgery right now… Needless to say my boo, is an absolute disaster right now… I'm glad that he's at his other job as opposed to being at his seasonal job, as a pilot for Delta Airlines… Would never want him flying an airbus being as devastated as he is right now… The good news is we have not heard from the vet, so no news is good news… Please keep Mia and us in your thoughts and prayer. Prayers as she makes it through surgery today!

Lastly, I just wanted to update everybody, and let you all know that Brax and Windago made it safely to their destinations, thanks to our amazing Transport diva Eva Emmell!' Matt, who is one of the service dog trainers with k9 responder Academy, and who is our point person, for that organization, has told us that Wendigo is an absolute sweetheart! he will hopefully make a fantastic service dog to either a veteran or a first responder! We also wanted to update everybody that Lilly Bear is doing fantastic with her brand new handler, Tracie! We couldn't be happier for both of them! And an even better news Lilly Bear's former Foster, has agreed to Foster another doc for us starting in June! We are elated, as it is a wonderful accolade for our organization when our fosters come back to us! Will keep everybody posted on Wendigo and his journey! Brax went to our eboard member Heather, and suffice to say, we're pretty sure that he has found his forever home! Lol if you guys all remember, she agreed to Foster Scarlet, who was one of our other MALS, and Scarlet is now their dog! I'm pretty confident Brax is going to be the next member of their family!

Unfortunately, the person who we were hoping was going to adopt AVALA, has disappeared off of our radar… I am pretty disappointed as her Foster is an amazing person, and I cannot figure out for the life of me why we can't get AVALA a permanent home! So my goal is to bring her north, and get her adopted up here! She's an absolute sweetie pie, and deserves to have a forever home! Included in that, we would also like to pull another young dog from one of the southern shelters we work with, so we are right now looking for a Foster! If you are interested in fostering, please let us know ASAP! Shelters are desperate for people to help, so if you have it in your life to be able to Foster, please let us know.

In the meantime, we do need to raise a little bit of money for Transport north for AVALA, and unfortunately we're still short about $100 for Diesel's Owner to start working with MODULAR K9 SOLUTIONS. So would that being said I'm going to put our donation amount, around $300 for the foreseeable future! That represents the remaining money for Diesel's owner, and Transport north for AVALA and hopefully another dog! Seeing today is Tuesday, we're going to do our

$2 TUESDAY!

We haven't asked for very many donations since the start of 2026, but we definitely do need to have a little bit of a cushion, and now we still have two more things we need to raise money for. So we're asking you to please donate your $2 and please encourage any of your friends, colleagues, family to help out!

Helllllooooo everyone!!!! Man it's been a CRAZY few days!!! We should have posted a little something but we've been trying to organize all the items up in the air....so there wasn't too much to update....but some things are solitified now so.....here we go....
1. I am thrilled to announce that Brax
Will be going to our e board member ....she belongs to a bite sport club and she has several club members that are interested in him....so as long as Heather doesn't keep him.../🤣🤣🤣he will be going to a sport home which is EXACTLY up his alley. We are so happy to have helped Natalie ThatMalinoislady get homes for both puppies
2. Our amazing transport Eva will be leaving Sunday night to head to VA to pick up both Wendigo and Brax and head to Gaston where Wendigo will be going to K9 Responder Organization. And we are THRILLED to announce he ALREADY has a handler who's a veteran!! We couldn't be happier!!!!
3. And best news yet....I'm hoping this won't jinx it butttt thx to someone who knows us, and recommended us, it's a STRONG possibility that Avala has a home....the issue is that she is in Dallas and we need to get her to Gaston by Sunday....so if ANYONE has any transports they can recommend PLS let us know!!

We haven't asked for any donations in the last few days, but we will definitely need donations to help cover the transport from Dallas to Gaston… So if you would like to help us, please do so bye donating to one of our platforms below to get our suite AVALA to Gaston.

Lastly, we are still short a little bit of money for Diesel's Owner for him to begin obedience classes with MODULAR K9 SOLUTIONS.... only $100, so not a lot of money… If you would like to help this wonderful young man, who deserves our help, please donate to our platforms below and put Diesel in the comment. OK I think that's it for now, we will keep everybody updated and again if you have any recommendations or transports that could help get our beautiful AVALA from Dallas to Gaston, please let us know ASAP.

Morning all!!! Wanted to update everybody with what's going on...we didnt want to post anything as we had no major updates, but here's what's going on...
1. Waiting on shelter do you get back to us on transport arrangements for the MAMA pup, and her baby…
2. We've made arrangements with our wonderful Transport Eva Emmell, to pick up Wendigo from one of our trainers, Natalie ThatMalinoislady on May 4… That transport has been paid and I would like to thank our amazing e board member Adrienne Lelli, who is the founder and CEO of for Donations by Adrienne for paying for that, AND do all the customers who have bought her amazing products as all of your purchases have gone to her organization, which donates to us! Thank you, everybody!
3. We are in the process of trying to place Brax who is the brother of Windigo, as he may be able to go to one of our other supporters, we will keep everybody updated…
4. Lilly Bear has found her person! We are so excited she's going to be an incredible service dog!
5. We have a couple of dogs and supporters that we've been in touch with, but hopefully we'll be placed soon, we're working behind the scenes on those situations. And once they are solidified, we will let everybody know!
6. Lunas spay and microchip have been paid in full! Thank you so much to everybody who donated for her!
7. I am incredibly excited to let everybody know that our sweet girl Neesha, has been placed with a fantastic person who absolutely loves her! Thank you to Jenn for taking her all the way to Virginia, and making sure she found a wonderful home! She is now with an active military handler, and he absolutely adores her!
8. LASTLY, as everybody knows what that situation that happened last week with Diesel and his haMODULAR K9 SOLUTIONSI Kenny Wallacedo everything in my power to help raise money for him to be able to give Diesel some obedience training! I am so incredibly happy to let everybody know that we are very close to our goal, and in fact we are so close that I have decided to add a little bit more money to our goal, instead of it being $500 raised we'd like to raise an additional 200, to bring it to $700… With that extra little bit of money, MODULAR K9 SOLUTIONS (Kenny Wallace) will be able to do more for Diesel's Owner, which I am incredibly happy about!

So if you would like to assist a wonderful young man who is on the road to being incredibly successful, and pulling his self up by his own boot straps, please donate whatever you can to our below platforms! I am incredibly proud of all of the work he's been doing, and he is a wonderful asset to the explorers program, which is a national program to train high school students to prepare them for the police Academy! He not only graduates from high school this year, he will be graduating from the explorers program and entering the police academy! These are the kind of people that I will do anything and everything for! I am not rich by any means, matter of fact, most of the time we live paycheck to paycheck, but it's people like this, who I like to help any single way I can! So if you can donate, please do! Or below platforms are perfect!
