The clearer the leadership, the freer the dog.

Your dog pulls on leash because it works.

That's it. That's the whole answer.

Every time they pull and you follow — they just learned that pulling gets them where they want to go. You didn't teach them to pull.

You just never taught them that it doesn't work.

Here's what's actually happening.

Your dog has a drive a desire to get to whatever is ahead of them. That desire is not a behavior problem. It's design. God built that into them.

Your job is not to eliminate the desire. Your job is to become more motivating than whatever is at the end of that leash.

When you learn to motivate your dog, communicate clearly, and engage them before the pulling starts — the leash goes slack.

Not because you forced it. Because they chose you.
That's the difference between a dog that obeys and a dog that actually wants to work with you.
