It was the perfect day for our annual Agricultural Program tour! We visited Lucky Dog Organic LLC in Hamden, NY and ClarkDairyFarms in Delhi, NY. Both farms are longtime program participants with multiple Best Management Practices implemented to protect water quality. Both farms are also Agricultural Innovation grant recipients. Lucky Dog showcased their new electric tractor, and Clark’s discussed their new interseeder for cover crops, drone, and yield monitor. It was a great day for regulators, partners and committee members to see the important work being done in the region! 🥬🐮🚜💧

When it comes to making silage, timing matters. If the corn is too wet or too dry when it is harvested, it can affect how well it stores and the overall quality of feed. A whole plant dry matter of 35 percent is most often cited as an optimum target. By measuring how much moisture is in the corn, we can help farmers make informed decisions about the right time to harvest. Thanks to our partners at ccedelawarecounty for helping make this event a success! 🌽
