We are committed to stopping the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets by ending overpopulation and homelessness. To achieve this, we provide quality shelter, spay/neuter, foster care, adoption, and re-homing services for companion animals in our community. We provide spay/neuter and humane education, animal control services, and cruelty and neglect investigation services to ensure that companion animals have home with responsible, committed and loving caregivers.

C**t (featured last) went to Dutch Bros on Isaacs the other day, and they loved him so much they sent pup cups for him and all his BMHS friends! The dogs absolutely loved it. Thank you Dutch Bros!

You can be a hero for kittens in our community.

Kitten season is here, and we are feeling the full effect of unaltered domestic and community cats reproducing in our area.

In the last couple weeks, we have taken in dozens of kittens, some of whom are now adoptable, and others who are either too young or too unwell to go home with a new family.

We couldn’t do the work we do for these babies without support from the public, and that support can take many forms.

Donations – of any amount – help support shelter operations including surgery, medical care, food, litter, and clean kennels for pets in our care.

Recurring donations provide a steady, predictable stream of support for their care, are easy to set up, and make a lasting impact.

Fostering can take pressure off the shelter and give pets a head start by helping them acclimate to home life.

Most importantly, getting your pets spayed and neutered, even if they are domestic indoor animals, prevents unwanted litters and eases pressure on the animal welfare services in our area.

Thank you for doing your part to help us reduce animal suffering in the region and support every pet on their journey home.

Blue Mountain Humane Society is grateful to the Wildhorse Foundation and Walmart Spark Good for helping bring our new Doggy Lounge to life.

Thanks to support from the Wildhorse Foundation, BMHS was able to create a dedicated room where adopters can meet dogs in a comfortable, home-like setting outside the kennel environment. This welcoming space gives dogs the opportunity to relax, reduce stress, and show adopters more of their true personalities.

In 2025, a $1,000 Walmart Spark Good grant helped furnish the Doggy Lounge with the finishing touches that make it feel like home. Grant funding provided blinds, a loveseat, door signage, an open/closed sign, keyless entry, a door stop, and an outdoor trash bin.

For many long-stay dogs, the Doggy Lounge will offer a quieter space to unwind, connect with potential adopters, and experience the kind of everyday environment they may encounter in a future home. It is another step toward helping every dog put their best paw forward.

Thank you to the Wildhorse Foundation and Walmart Spark Good for investing in innovative ways to improve the lives of shelter pets and support successful adoptions in our community. Your generosity is already making a difference for the animals in our care!

We tried the beach party sprinkler but Rootbeer, Boomie, and Tempest unanimously decided the hose is still their favorite.

🐱Age/Sex: 3-year-old male cat
✂Fixed: Yes

Lil Pete is a playful and affectionate black cat. He loves attention and curling up on the back of the couch with his people. When he’s not loafing or birdwatching from the window, he loves to play, especially with laser pointers, toys, catnip, and interactive games.

He does well with other pets, is comfortable living indoors, and would do best with someone who can match his playful energy and give him attention.
