We have a new house dog! A breeder surrender female poodle! The breeder said the dog is so sweet, she will follow you around. Her name is Bitsey. Um, yeah! She was too quick to scruff the dog and fling her into a crate. Kennel dogs are normally shy so I didn't think anything of it. When I got home I opened the crate and the dog was all teeth, biting and snapping to escape. Again, normal fear reaction
I let her calm down for an hour then herded her into the kennel. She was eager to get into a pen with two other poodles. She hid in the dog house for a few days. I noticed her hair cut was choppy especially her face. Later that week I decided to fix her haircut, worm her and see if she was calmed down enough to make a spay appointment.
She was shaking so hard but let me pick her up. The smell of rotting teeth hit like a ton of bricks. No wonder her hair cut was choppy! She wasnt matted so no rush. I made her appointment for the following Friday.
The vet tech went to get her out of the car while I carried in another dog. Bitsy tried to bite her. So she carried in crate and all
When the vet went to pull her out, she became a snapping machine. But still got sedated. After she was out, the vet checked her teeth. Let's just say, for a dog who supposedly got an annual dental cleaning, she missed a few.
She had 8 pulled, got spayed and a general once over to see what other surprises she might give me. Her cloudy eyes tell a story. Possibly Progressive Retinal Atrophy. No wonder she was so defensive! She is going blind! She is alsohard of hearing. Imagine. Being her.
