Our Semi-annual Dental Month is coming up in September! So in preparation, we are going to Countdown to Dental Month by giving some dental care facts, tips and tricks for your fur babies!

Although cavities are less common in pets than people, your pets can have many of the same dental problems that people can develop, including:

Broken teeth and roots
Periodontal disease
Abscessed or infected teeth
Gingivitis

Regular check-ups can help you get ahead of some of these issues but you can also keep a look out for behavior changes that might signal a dental problem including:

Abnormal chewing
Drooling
Trouble eating or dropping food from mouth
Refusal to eat
Swelling in or around mouth
Bad breath

If you have any concerns with your pets oral health, please call and make an appointment. And don't forget, dental month means you get 15% off dental cleanings, so get your pet on the schedule while we have availability!

With summer in full swing and a heat advisory right around the corner, here are some reminders and tips for keeping your pet cool and safe!

-Refrain from keeping pets outside for long periods of time. If you must keep them out, make sure your pets have unlimited access to fresh water, and plenty of shade when outside.

-Never leave a pet in the car, even in the shade or with windows cracked. Cars can overheat quickly to deadly temperatures, even when the weather isn’t severe

-When taking your pets for a walk, do so in the cooler hours of the day and try to keep off hot surfaces like asphalt and concrete that can burn your pet's paws.
