Hummingbirds are going to be leaving Minnesota soon for their southward migration. Part of the journey requires them to cross the Gulf, a 500 mile crossing with no food or water. This incredible feat takes them about twenty hours. Amazing for a bird that weighs a tenth of an ounce. They are some of the most incredible athletes on the planet.

We’ve started seeing some orioles coming through, and the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks have been making appearances too! 😍
And we’re hearing reports that hummingbirds have already been spotted in Delano and Watertown — so it’s officially time to get those hummingbird feeders cleaned, filled, and ready to go! 🌺
