🐾 FLEAS & TICKS: More Than Just an Itch! 🐾

Did you know that fleas can do more than make your pet scratch? Fleas can also transmit tapeworms! 🪱

When pets groom themselves, they may accidentally swallow an infected flea. That flea can carry tapeworm larvae, which can then develop into an adult tapeworm inside your pet. 😳

Signs you may notice include:
🐶🐱 Excessive scratching or licking
🐾 Hair loss or irritated skin
🩸 Flea dirt or visible fleas
🪱 Small, rice-like segments around your pet’s rear or in their bedding
😣 Scooting or irritation

And remember—you may not see fleas even when they’re there! Fleas can quickly multiply in your home and environment, making an infestation difficult to control once it starts.

✨ Year-round flea and tick prevention is one of the best ways to protect your pet from itchy skin, parasites, and flea-associated tapeworm infections.

🐶❤️ Heartworm disease is serious — but it’s also preventable!

Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes and can cause severe damage to your pet’s heart and lungs. Even indoor pets are at risk because mosquitoes can easily get inside homes.

Here’s how to keep your furry family safe:
✔️ Keep your pet on monthly heartworm prevention year-round
✔️ Schedule annual heartworm testing
✔️ Protect against mosquitoes whenever possible

Signs of heartworm disease may include:
• Coughing
• Fatigue
• Difficulty breathing
• Weight loss

The good news? Prevention is much safer, easier, and less expensive than treatment.

We are touched to share that one of our beloved patients, Ashley, has left a special legacy. Her loving family has donated all of her gently used toys to bring joy to other pups in our community. Ashley was known for her gentle nature, and her toys are in near-perfect condition, ready to delight your furry friends!
Stop by Texas Animal Medical Center to pick up a toy for your pet, completely free, while supplies last. We’re open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

🐶 Kennel Technician - responsible for providing care to patients and boarding pets, keeping conditions very clean and safe, feeding, walking, handling animals, etc.

🐱 Receptionist - responsible for welcoming patients and clients, scheduling appointments for multiple doctors. Must be able to multitask, have great organizational skills, work in a fast-paced environment, excel in customer service and work weekends.
