During my upgrades to the ADS-B system, my interest in radio grew a bit.
So, I built a general SDR platform instead using the PI ADS-B stack that I was currently operating with.
I started with a retired WS and installed Debian 13 and turned it into a complete VHF/UHF/HAM workstation with an RTL2838 SDR attached. With this and six different antennas the roof is starting to look like radio shack.

Over the past year the studio has expanded operations into the the over the air (OTA) radio spectrum and digital signal processing (DSP) systems.
What started as a simple PIAware system running on a PI4 and a single RTL2832U software defined radio (SDR) using a simple magnetic attached radio antenna has now grown into a multi-system radio receiver site complete with a fully integrated SDR workstation for VHF/UHF/HAM receiving and broadcasting.
We are now operating dedicated 3 radio systems each with dedicated mast antennas. The original PI unit alone is now serving 10 commercial ADS-B flight tracking systems on a 24/7 basis.
Anyway, the end result is if it has a radio I can now receive the signal and decode it.

The studio ADS-B receiver host is now serving these national ADS-B systems on a 7/24 basis.

The next project is a Linux/SDR based HAM radio base station.
The first component is a 25-1300Mhz Discone Base Antenna for wideband transmission and reception. The antenna will be capable of broadcasting at 300Watts on lower band frequency CB channels and 200Watts on the higher VHF-UHF frequencies.
BTW, I have to obtain a license to be able to broadcast legally. However, I can still broadcast on the citizens bands ( CH 2-40 ) and still listen to the rest until I obtain one. 🤓
So, to the left I'm already modifying the new mast. I added a 4' riser to the antenna arm. This will bring the mast to 30' or 440' ASL.

The new studio antenna mast/flag pole is installed and fully functional.
The mast is a 25' flag pole set in a 15 gallon planter filled with concrete. The offset arm and 1090/978Mhz antenna brings it to a total of 27 feet.
I also installed 4 point guywires to keep any wind oscillation to a minimum when the flags are up and keeps the ADS-B Flightaware GPS node accurate at all times. I'm already planning to add a LTE cell antenna if the node maintains a reasonable GPS lock and a full range SDR antenna this summer. This will give me the ability to transmit and receive when I choose to pursue this aspect of radio services. 🤓
