😺 Attention Pachaug Animal Hospital clients and friends! 😺 We are putting out feelers for a potential home for this beautiful boy.

This is Will Feral! Will was brought into us as a stray to be vaccinated and neutered, but unfortunately after his routine bloodwork, we discovered that he is FIV positive. As a result, it is not in his best interest (or the best interest of the other neighborhood cats) to remain an outdoor cat. And unfortunately, his current caretaker has other cats in the house that cannot be exposed to an FIV positive cat.

Will is going to either need to go to a home with no other cats, or to a home that already has FIV positive cats. He cannot be an outdoor cat to avoid exposure to other strays/neighborhood cats.

He is otherwise a healthy guy, and more importantly, he is VERY sweet! He has a great personality and we are confident he would settle into indoor cat life very easily.

Please reach out to us via phone or text if you are interested, or if you know someone who may be!

"Sometimes our final act of love is taking their pain away, and making it our own."

It is with very heavy hearts that we share this news. Our beloved Riley crossed the rainbow bridge today after a recent, rapid decline in health and quality of life. Needless to say, we are absolutely heartbroken. Riley was roughly 18 years old, and while she only joined us as our "hospital cat" in 2020, she established herself as the queen of PAH almost immediately.

I am truly struggling to write this...trying to summarize her 6 year tenure at Pachaug is not easy. She was a constant in all of our lives for a long time, and the hole that she leaves behind will be truly impossible to fill. From lounging around wherever she fancied, to squawking at patients walking down the hall...from swatting at unsuspecting passersby, to trying to climb into people's purses while they are checking out at the front desk. Not to mention all of the times she left gifts on Dr. Belair's desk....I will leave those details to everyone's imagination. πŸ˜‚ Our days will be a lot less bright without you, Rye Bread.

Please enjoy this photo dump...some of these photos are very old, from years ago when she was over 20 pounds and first joined "Kitty Fat Camp" at PAH.

If you have any photos, stories, or memories of Riley, please share them below. Let's all celebrate the long, adventurous life that this beautiful girl lived.

Long live the queen πŸ‘‘β€οΈ

*EDIT* because we have had several inquiries both publicly and privately, Oatmeal Raisin is NOT looking for a home, she already has a very wonderful owner!

Say hello to Oatmeal Raisin! πŸͺ
Oatmeal Raisin was here a couple of weeks ago to be spayed, and she made sure to give us some adorable poses for her post-op photoshoot! ❀️

Happy rainy Monday! Pachaug Animal Hospital will be operating under limited hours this Saturday 8/8/26. We will be open from 9am to 12pm, and there will be techs on staff to monitor phones/Pet Desk, fill certain medications, and to answer general questions. We will not have a doctor on staff.

Dr. Belair will be attending a continuing education course in Boston where she will be working to refine her small animal dentistry skills! Between a recent revamp of our dental equipment, and taking advantage of training opportunities such as this one, we will be able to offer more comprehensive dental care for our canine and feline patients in the future! We thank you for your patience and understanding while Dr. Belair works to refine her skills to further benefit our beloved clients/patients. 🦷πŸͺ₯

EDIT 8/1: We appreciate the widespread concern for the unclaimed cat that was brought to us Thursday morning. Unfortunately, he was humanely euthanized Thursday evening. He was critically ill when he arrived- his body temp was too cold to register and he was so dehydrated we could not draw blood or place an iv catheter. Realistically, he needed to be in the ICU at Ocean State or Pieper. This is simply not a level of care that we are able to provide or subsidize. We made our best efforts to warm, hydrate and stabilize him in the hopes he had just gotten hypothermic in the storm. His condition didn't improve throughout the day. Nobody came forward to claim him, so at the very end of our day the difficult decision was made.

As this matter is discussed over many local pages I would ask that you all remember that behind every organization- whether that's Pachaug Animal Hospital, Preston Animal Control, or Necog- there are human beings. Good people who show up to fight the good fight despite the many challenges we face. Have whatever opinions you want about local businesses, municipal organizations, tax dollar usage. Calling out the people who are trying to help just makes a difficult job a little harder.

Thanks to everyone who participated in trying to identify this cat. The good Samaritan who found him, the Preston ACO who tried to help, everyone who posted or reposted on his behalf. And most importantly, my staff who spent all day worried and caring for this little guy.

EDIT 1:00pm: We have reached out to both Preston Animal Control as well as NECCOG, and they have no leads for his owner and are otherwise unable to assist. As of right now, the cat is not doing well at all, and unfortunately we may have to make the decision to euthanize him to ease his suffering today. Please SHARE this post and reach out asap if you know who he may belong to.

Does anyone recognize this kitty? He was brought into the clinic by a good samaratin who found him in their backyard on 164 in Preston. Unfortunately he is not microchipped. He does have a flea collar on, so we are hoping that someone is looking for him.
