Sometimes rescue stories take an unexpected turn. 🤎
Winnie was adopted in August 2025, and after 14 months in her home, she has sadly been returned to KFM Rescue through no fault of her own.
From everything I can tell, Winnie wasn’t the right fit for that household. Sometimes that happens, and finding the right match matters, but I do wish that realization had come sooner. Fourteen months is a long time for a cat to settle into a life, learn a routine, and believe that place is home before having to start over again.
Since Winnie has been back with me, I have seen none of the behavioral concerns noted in her return. She is the same girl I knew before she left: sweet, gentle, quiet, and calm.
Winnie isn’t the cat who is going to rush up to every stranger or demand to be the center of the room. She takes her time. She observes. She settles in quietly. And when she feels safe, there is such a lovely, soft little personality underneath.
Cats like Winnie can sometimes be overlooked because they aren’t the stereotypical outgoing, instantly affectionate cat people imagine when they think about adoption.
But quiet cats deserve homes too.
Shy cats deserve stability too.
And sometimes the cat who takes a little longer to trust you ends up being the one whose love means the most. 🤍
So if you’re looking to adopt and your heart has room for a quieter soul, please give cats like Winnie a chance.
She has already had to start over once.
This time, I want to make sure it’s forever. 🐾
Winnie will be available for adoption again after the new year, in order to give her time to decompress and feel love again ❤️
