Worried your dog won’t settle in while you’re away? 💛

This weekend’s guest is Rufus!

When he first arrived, he was very anxious and unsure. Being in a new place without your family can be overwhelming, even for the sweetest dogs. Rufus simply missed his people and needed a little time to adjust.

Travis and I kept things calm, respected his space, and let him settle in at his own pace. There was no pressure to interact before he was ready. We let him decide when he was comfortable, and before long he was relaxing, seeking us out, and showing us his sweet personality.

Now I can’t keep him out of my personal space. 😂 Safe to say he’ll be sleeping next to me tonight!

Every dog adjusts differently, and that’s okay. Sometimes the best thing we can give them is patience, consistency, and the chance to realize they’re safe.

Not fun, but skipping it can cause big problems. 👀




Rabies vaccine update day for Fern & Clover!

These appointments aren’t the most exciting part of having dogs, but they’re one of the most important. I want my dogs healthy, protected, and ready for whatever comes next, especially when it comes to training, hunting season, or traveling.

Keeping vaccines current means:

✅ Protecting your dog

✅ Meeting legal requirements

✅ Making boarding, training, travel, and many events much easier

✅ Having one less thing to worry about if your dog ever has an unexpected wildlife encounter

Now that everyone’s checked off the list, we’re off to celebrate with a pup cup. 😋

My dogs are convinced someone is out there knocking birds out of the sky. 😂🐦

While many of us enjoy the fireworks, tonight can be overwhelming for our four-legged friends. If your dog is nervous, give them a quiet place to relax, stick to their routine, and remember that every dog experiences the holiday differently.

Every journey has a beginning. ❤️

Today marks the anniversary of bringing Fern home. I had no idea then that one dog would completely change the direction of my life.

She sparked a passion for training, hunting, and learning that eventually grew into the dream of Rooted Paws.

I’m looking forward to the journey of building this business and sharing that process with all of you.

Here’s to Fern and to the journey that started with her. 🌿 🐾
