I use the halters I’ve made on my own horses every day. When they get dirty I dunk them in a bucket of water with a sq**rt or two of Dawn dish soap and let them sit there for a couple of hours or so. If they are particularly grimy where horses have rubbed on things or otherwise gotten really dirty I scrub them a bit with a stiff-ish brush. Then I just hang them to dry and they are like new again, clean, bright and colorful 😊

I’ve been wanting to make Goliath a halter for a really long time but couldn’t think of one that would be “special enough” for the most special horse in my whole universe. I’ve also wanted to make a halter incorporating beads. So combining those two things, here is what I came up with. Nothing can truly be special enough for him, of course, but I love how this turned out and how it looks on Goliath 🖤

Another Heartland Creations original 🤩 I wanted to call this one Grimfrost which I think is such a cool name. But it’s a registered name owned by a Swedish company making Viking clothing of all things, which is also very cool. So I decided to call this design “Grimma”, inspired by Grimfrost but simply meaning halter in Swedish. So here it is, the Grimma halter “Goliath”.

It’s bittersweet. Ranger has left for his forever home. We found him the best possible future. He will live with a herd of friends on green pastures in Idaho. He has the best new owners and will come back here to get started under saddle by our mutual trainer when the time is right. I could not have imagined a better situation for him! Even so, it was definitely sad to see him go. We saved his life, raised him, loved him from his first day of life, and I put hundreds of hours into his training to make him the best little version of himself. For almost three years he has greeted us with his whinnies every time we approached the barn. He’s been the first to volunteer any time we show up with a halter (even if it’s not his). He has faithfully exercised all of his friends daily, shared his meals with the drafts, and slept with his herd. You will always have a big piece of our hearts Ranger. We can’t wait to follow the rest of your journey ❤️

This was such a fun project! Two good friends ordered a custom halter for their friend and together we designed the Devi Legacy halter ❤️ Devi’s owner really liked the teal color and the “Hyena” two-toned cord is like made for Devi’s gorgeous roan coat! I love how this looks on her. Thank you Susan and Cindy!

Glencoe Finn, barn name Kevin, is a purebred, 7 year old, 19hh Clydesdale gelding. He is as sweet as he is gorgeous and absolutely loves people and attention. With his gentle expression, fluffy adorableness and puppydog personality, he melts every heart he connects with. He is friendly and kind to everyone he meets, whether it's people, other horses, children, dogs, or any other being.

Kevin came to me lightly started under saddle with 60 days of professional training. He definitely had some holes in his education, so I have since restarted him under saddle and he is doing beautifully. Kevin is fun in the arena and amazing out on trails. He will go out alone or in a group and always gets along great with other horses when I ride with friends. Kevin also ponies well off other horses and is happy to pony other horses. He is a gentleman for the vet, in hand around the barn or out hiking. Kevin ties, bathes, trailers, and will stand for grooming and being fussed over for hours. With a solid foundation now in place, Kevin is ready to find his forever person.

Kevin has a condition called stringhalt which affects his gait at the walk and when backing up. It is most evident when he first starts off from a standstill, improves as he continues to walk, and is virtually undetectable at the trot or canter. He acquired this condition in both hind legs as a 2 year old, and being an extremely well bred, very expensive c**t, he was sent to the leading stringhalt surgeon in the country. The surgery was successful on the left hind but not on the right. After an extensive recovery period, he was started under saddle and sold as a pleasure horse instead of being trained as a show carriage horse as was initially intended. While his condition does require some special accommodations in certain circumstances, like trimming his feet, he is very capable, and I have found him to be surefooted, trustworthy, willing, responsive, comfortable and truly fun to ride. We just don't let his condition define him, and he certainly doesn't either!

Kevin initially came to us as a rehab/retrain project, but with his sweet demeanor and stunning looks, he stole our hearts so completely that I soon decided to keep him permanently. Unfortunately, my husband recently sustained a serious injury at work which is forcing him to retire earlier than planned. As a result, we need to downsize our herd, so we are slowly and very carefully starting to look for a wonderful forever home for Kevin. His new owner will be vetted closely, and a great fit and situation is a must. Kevin will do best with an experienced horse person. He will require an intermediate or better rider because of his size and age, and because he is still relatively green. We also highly prefer someone with draft experience who understands the extensive amount of time, effort and money that goes into keeping these gentle giants healthy and happy.

Kevin will also need free access to turnout and space to roam with at least one other horse companion. And even though not a deal breaker, I think Kevin would enjoy a cooler climate. With his size and body mass, he gets HOT here in the 100 degree summer Nevada desert. And of course he will need ###L absolutely everything: trailer, shelter, tack, you name it… Because yes, he really is 19 hands high!

Kevin isn’t just another horse, he is a lifestyle. He is a BIG commitment in every way, but for the right person, it will be life altering--in the very best way.

Kevin is located in Reno, Nevada. We are asking 1️⃣0️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ to an exceptional home. Please educate yourself on stringhalt, if not already familiar with the condition. Serious inquiries are welcome. Please DM or text Kerstin at 775-691-0502.

*** Pending ***

Ranger is a gorgeous solid bay coming 3 year old gelding. He was born in a sanctuary for mustangs, orphaned and saved on his first day of life, and has known nothing but love ever since. Ranger is smart, super sweet and friendly, and very social. He is the first to meet you at the gate and calls out when he sees you. Ranger knows all age appropriate ground work and has been trained following the Clinton Anderson Method. To start him under saddle when the time comes should be so easy for an experienced horse person. He is athletic and agile, sensitive, responsive, learns very quickly and retains exceptionally well. He has been ponied extensively all over the desert and in the mountains, both on and off a lead. He has crossed obstacles and played in lakes. He carries a backpack. He ties, bathes, loads well in the trailer and is good for the farrier. He is in perfect health, has great feet, and has never had any health issues whatsoever, up to date on everything always. Ranger is on the smaller side at about 13.3 hh and will be best suited for a petite rider. Early retirement due to injury necessitates downsizing and Ranger is looking for his next chapter. So much work has gone into this sweet boy’s training to assure that he would grow up to be a well adjusted citizen and a trustworthy partner. His ideal new home will ideally be with a horse person with experience and knowledge, preferably even with c**ts and young horses. Ranger is very playful and adores his horse friends of all types and sizes and herdmates in his new home are a must. We are hoping to find someone looking for their new adventure partner. Ranger will have the solid mind and endurance for long treks in the backcountry, and the smarts and athleticism for most arena activities. Asking 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ OBO. A great home is a must. Home check and references will be required. Please DM or text Kerstin at 775-691-0502 with questions or to set up a time to come meet Ranger in person. Located in Reno, Nevada.
