☀️🐾 Heat Advisory for Our Furry Friends! 🐾☀️

With temperatures rising, we want to remind everyone that the heat can become dangerous for pets very quickly. Even on “not too hot” days, sidewalks, cars, and humidity can put our pets at serious risk for heatstroke and burned paw pads.

Please help keep your pets safe by remembering:
🐶 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
🌳 Provide plenty of shade and fresh water at all times
🚗 Never leave pets unattended in a vehicle — not even for a minute
🔥 Avoid hot pavement (if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws)
🐾 Watch for signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse

Flat-faced breeds, senior pets, overweight pets, and young puppies/kittens are especially vulnerable in this heat.

If your pet is showing signs of overheating, move them to a cool area immediately and contact your veterinarian right away.

Stay safe, stay cool, and give your pets some extra TLC during this heat wave! ❤️🐕🐈

Just a reminder that we’ll be paw-sing operations on this Memorial Day! 🐾

As we enjoy the extended weekend with family, friends, and our furry companions, we also take time to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. ❤️🤍💙

We hope everyone has a safe and peaceful Memorial Day. Please remember to keep pets safe around grills, holiday foods, and firework celebrations! 🐾

If your pet experiences an emergency while we’re closed, please reach out to the nearest emergency hospital. Veterinary Emergency & Specialty of Tidewater is the closest to us and can be reached at 757-841-8378.

We’re so grateful for the heart of our clinic—our incredible receptionists at all three locations! —who keeps everything running smoothly, greet every client with kindness, and make even the busiest days feel manageable. You truly are the first and last smile our clients see, and it never goes unnoticed 💙

And of course… we can’t forget the snacks 😄 From sweet treats to savory goodies, this week was filled with all the delicious appreciation you deserve (and maybe a few extra snack breaks—we won’t tell 👀).

🌟 Reception Team Spotlight: Melissa! 🌟

This week we’re so excited to kick off our Reception Team Highlights with the one and only Melissa who holds down the fort at our Princess Anne location!

Melissa is celebrating an incredible 11 years with Acredale this month—talk about dedication! 💙 When asked her favorite part of the job, it’s no surprise she said the pets. She loves watching them grow from tiny puppies and kittens into beloved family members over the years.

She’s also heard some pretty amazing pet names, but her all-time favorite has to be Betty White Paws (honestly, iconic). And she has a soft spot for Trucker, who was named after his dad, Tank… because what’s smaller than a tank? A TRUCK! 🚚

Melissa is a dog person through and through, and if she could spend a day as any animal, she’d choose to be a dog so she could snuggle and play all day with her own pups, Riggs and Trixie 🐾—or a bird, so she could chat with all her backyard feathered friends and finally explore those birdhouses (and, of course, enjoy the gift of flight!).

When the clinic gets busy, you’ll find her fueled by her go-to snack: the green sea salt bag of SkinnyPop 🍿

We are so lucky to have Melissa as part of our team—be sure to show her some love in the comments! 💕
