With World Rabies Day earlier this week and a recent nationwide health advisory from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding an increase in exposures to rabies, here are some important facts to keep in mind:

💉 Rabies is a fatal viral disease, but it is preventable. Keeping pets up to date on vaccines is one of the most important ways to reduce the risk.

🧠 In the US, rabies is diagnosed in animals after death using specialized brain tissue tests. This means the disease can only be confirmed after the animal has died or been euthanized.

⚠️ Treatment options are available for humans exposed to rabies, but exposure to rabies constitutes an emergency that requires immediate medical attention.

🌈 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 🐾

At Acredale Animal Hospital, we know that pets are so much more than animals—they're family, best friends, constant companions, and the keepers of some of life's most treasured memories.

On this Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, we honor the beloved pets who have touched our lives and the families who continue to carry them in their hearts. It has been our privilege to care for so many incredible companions throughout their lives, and it is an honor we never take for granted to support families during one of the hardest moments they may ever face.

If you're remembering a special friend today, we'd love to celebrate them with you. Share a favorite photo, tell us their name, or leave a story about what made them so special. Together, we can honor the lives that filled our hearts with unconditional love and left paw prints that will never fade.

🌈 Once our patients, forever a part of the Acredale family. ❤️

Wishing all our feline friends a day filled with sunny windows, crunchy treats, and absolutely no unnecessary interruptions. 😂💕

Happy Caturday from all of us at Acredale! 🐾
