🐾 Meet Holly | LVT Spotlight! 💙
With 10 years of experience as an LVT, Holly brings a strong medical background and a lifelong desire to work with animals to the AVSVA team.
Before veterinary medicine, Holly worked as an EMT. She knew she wanted to continue working in medicine, and combining that interest with her love for animals made veterinary technology a natural fit.
One thing Holly wishes more pet owners understood is the education and training behind the LVT credential. In Virginia, becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician requires formal education and passing national examinations. LVTs are trained medical professionals who play an important role in supporting animal health and well-being.
Holly especially enjoys working at AVSVA's vaccine clinic because clients come ready to protect their pets through preventive care. Helping pet owners keep their animals up to date on important vaccines is a rewarding part of the job!
At home, Holly has three dogs, Finn, Allie, and Birdie, plus two cats, Georgie and Roo. If her pets had to describe her in three words, she'd choose dependable, loving, and sucker. Apparently, dinner time is all it takes to bring the whole crew running! 😂
Outside of work, Holly enjoys painting, hiking, and gardening. She's also left-handed, a fun fact that tends to come up wherever she works!
If she could work with any animals in the world, Holly would love to return to wildlife medicine. She appreciates the different approach it requires, though she knows she'd miss the cats and dogs she gets to care for every day.
One of her favorite animal-related shows is Downward Dog, which reminds her of her own experiences with Finn while starting out in veterinary medicine and living on her own.
Thank you, Holly, for your experience, dedication, and commitment to helping pets stay healthy through preventive care! 💙
