In my ten-year career as a nurse, I’ve seen it all, from heartbreak and emergencies to moments I could hardly comprehend. But one day, a German Shepherd named Rex completely changed everything I believed I knew about life.

It started with an eight-year-old boy named Leo who suffered from a serious infection that affected his kidneys. Antibiotics failed to help so doctors decided a surgery was the only option. My job was to prepare him, reassure him, and make him feel safe. Hospitals can be terrifying for kids, and it’s our duty to ease that fear.

Leo wasn’t alone....

The officer had been in intensive care for over a month, and the diagnosis was awful. He sustained an extensive brain injury and fell into a coma.

Despite the doctors’ efforts, the situation was getting hopeless day by day. And then, one day, the final decision was made: if there was no further improvement, they would take him off life support. The family had been informed already.

My grandma was an incredible woman who did all in her power to keep our family close, but only she and I knew it was always a mission impossible. No one really cared about maintaining a relationship, because deep down, they all only cared about themselves.

Sadly, my grandma passed away, and all of a sudden, my entire family was there, attending her funeral. But the truth was that they only cared about her estates and money.

From the day they brought their baby home, their dog Ink refused to leave the bedroom.

At first, Son and his wife Han thought it was sweet the dog acted as the guarding to the newborn, but by the fourth night, Ink’s growling became unbearable.

At exactly 2:13 a.m., Ink stiffened. His fur rose, and he started growling as he kept starring at the crib.

Son turned on the lamp. The baby was sound asleep, but still, Ink’s eyes stayed fixed beneath the bed. When Son used his phone’s light to check if there was something underneath the bed he saw only boxes, diapers, and a patch of darkness that looked too deep to be real.

It happened again the next night...
