An incredible honor to be invited to speak at the Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária, Universidade de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal 🇵🇹

Dr. Tyler Carmack presented "Redefining Success in Veterinary Medicine: Hospice and Palliative Care for Companion Animals" to fifth-year veterinary students and the staff of Hospital Escolar Veterinário FMV-ULisboa — a teaching hospital with its own ground-breaking hospice and palliative care service.

Grateful to Dr. Sofia Mouro, Dr. Esmeralda Delgado, and Dr. Mafalda Gonçalves for making this visit possible. The future of veterinary medicine is in wonderful hands.

What an incredible day at the 11th Training Meeting of the Order of Veterinarians! 🐾

Dr. Tyler Carmack is so grateful to the scientific committee for the invitation to present at the 11th Training Meeting of the Order of Veterinarians! Her talks covered everything from the 2026 IAAHPC Guidelines and palliative pain management to compassionate communication, euthanasia best practices, and building end-of-life care into your practice.

She was also joined by the wonderful Dr. Álvaro Narváez Godoy (Evaluating Quality of Life) and Dr. Karla Pinto (CBD in hospice and palliative care) — it was a f ull, rich day of learning and conversation.

Deeply thankful to be part of a growing community committed to honoring animals and their families at every stage of life.

☀️🐾 As summer approaches, it’s a good time to slow down and notice what our senior pets may need a little more of

Cooler walks.
Fresh water.
More rest.
A comfortable place to escape the heat.

Our pets often age quietly, which is why the small changes matter so much.

A few thoughtful adjustments now can help keep them safe, comfortable, and happy all summer long.

Senior cats often change quietly, not dramatically.🐱

Subtle shifts in behavior, routine, or comfort can reflect changes in your cat’s quality of life and may indicate a need for additional support.

You don’t have to wait for obvious signs to take notice. Early awareness allows for thoughtful adjustments that can improve comfort and overall well-being.
