Sully, a 10 month old Cane Corso came in with progressive limping on his right front leg.🐾

👩‍⚕️X-rays confirmed panosteitis, which is essentially growing pains for large breed puppies. The inflammation can come on suddenly, shift between limbs, and be genuinely painful, but it’s temporary and very manageable with the right care.

Sully went home with pain medication and anti-inflammatories, and by the next day his owner reported he was already back to his normal self. 🫶

That bright spot on an X-ray? Not always something to worry about. 🩻

A Bates Body (nodular fat necrosis) is a completely harmless, calcified mass that requires no treatment and causes no issues. Most commonly found in geriatric cats, but it can show up in dogs too – in this case, our patient has had theirs since age two!

We're so excited to welcome Dr. Ane Dall'Agnol to the Ally team this summer! 🐾

She joins us as a combined specialty intern and urgent care clinician, splitting her time between us and our friends at Animal Vision Center of Virginia .

When a puppy comes in not eating, lethargic, and with diarrhea, we move quickly as these are classic signs of parvovirus. 

👩‍⚕️Parvo is a highly contagious viral disease that attacks a dog’s digestive system and immune cells – and without fast treatment, it can be fatal.

Signs include 👉vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite, diarrhea (often bloody), fever, and dehydration.

Luckily for this pup Atreus, his test came back negative.🐶
