I love that these girls love school. Pick up is always a treat when we hear their little paws running to the door. Their excited butt wiggles when we are leashing. And then how vocal they get when we are close to the sanctuary.

Love being able to help local rescues out. These transports are relaxing. We enjoy seeing all of the different personalities.

If you haven’t checked them out head over to Cliff's Coonhound Rescue & Trapping to see the wonderful animals they have for adoption. Or head to https://www.petfinder.com/member/us/va/chesapeake/cliffs-coonhound-rescue-trapping-va873/ to fill out an application.

🐾❤️ Client Spotlight: Your Trust Means Everything to Us ❤️🐾

One of the greatest compliments we can receive is knowing that a pet feels safe, comfortable, and happy in our care—and that their family has peace of mind while they’re away.

Today, we’re celebrating one of the wonderful families who has trusted Misfits & Underdogs Sanctuary! 🐶🐱

⭐ Meet Wyatt! ⭐

When we first met Wyatt, he needed a little extra time and patience to feel comfortable. Over time, we learned his favorite activities, routines, and ways of asking for attention. Watching his confidence grow and his personality shine has been such a rewarding experience.

Here’s what his Dad had to say:

💬 “They are amazing! Wyatt loves Nina”

Every pet is unique. Some are ready to play the moment they arrive, while others need time, consistency, reassurance, or a quieter approach.

Getting to know each pet as an individual is one of our favorite parts of what we do. ❤️

Thank you to every family who trusts us with their pets, recommends us to others, shares our posts, and supports our small business.

Your trust allows us to continue doing what we love—and we never take that responsibility lightly. 🐾

🐾⏰ Why Routine Matters to Our Pets ⏰🐾

Have you ever noticed that your pet seems to know exactly when it’s time to eat, go outside, play—or when you’re supposed to come home? 😂

Dogs and cats may not read clocks, but they are very good at recognizing patterns and routines.

Predictable routines can help pets feel more secure because they have a better idea of what to expect throughout their day. ❤️

A routine may include:

🍽️ Meals around consistent times

🚶 Regular walks, potty breaks, or play sessions

🧸 Daily enrichment and one-on-one attention

💤 Quiet time and opportunities to rest

💊 Medications given according to veterinary instructions

🌙 Familiar bedtime routines

Routine doesn’t mean every day has to be exactly the same. Life happens, schedules change, and flexibility is important too!

The goal is simply to provide enough consistency that your pet’s important needs are met and they feel comfortable knowing what usually comes next. 🐾

This is also why we take the time to learn about each pet’s normal schedule when providing care.

Whether they’re joining us for daycare or boarding—or enjoying a staycation in their own home—we do our best to maintain the familiar routines that help them feel comfortable. ❤️

Because sometimes the little things—like eating from their usual bowl, getting a bedtime treat, or having their favorite blanket nearby—can make a big difference.

💬 What part of your pet’s routine can they predict perfectly?

Do they know dinner time down to the minute? Wait by the door before a walk? Or remind you when it’s time for bed? 😂

🧠🐱 Cat Trivia Answer Time! 🐱🧠

The answer is…

🥁🥁🥁

🎉 TRUE! 🎉

Research suggests that cats can learn to recognize the sound of their own names and distinguish them from other words. 🐱👂

Whether they actually come when called is an entirely different question. 😹

Some cats may:

👀 Look in your direction

👂 Turn or move their ears

🐾 Flick their tail

😸 Meow back

🚶 Walk toward you—especially if food is involved!

And some may simply continue napping while pretending they heard absolutely nothing. 😂

Cats often communicate in subtle ways, and learning their individual responses is part of what makes living with them so much fun. ❤️

🐱 Bonus question:

What gets the fastest response from your cat?

🍽️ Their name

🥫 The sound of food opening

🧸 Their favorite toy

📦 A new cardboard box

😂 Absolutely nothing—they respond when they feel like it!
