I've seen other breeders have people like this reach out to them, and have always considered myself lucky that I never had one.... until today.
It may be news to some, but breeding dogs is no walk in the park. It's not just cute, lovable babies that are just sunshine and rainbows all day every day for 8 or more weeks straight.
It's more p**p and p*e than you could ever imagine. It's barking at any time of the day, whether its 3 in the afternoon, 3 in the morning or any times in between. It's getting up at all hours through the night when they are newborns to make sure they are all eating well and mom is doing well. It's spending all nighters when your female decides to whelp all through the night. It's expenses you next expected to have to spend, but have to regardless. It's asking all the questions to potential buyers and hoping they are the right choice for that puppy. It's giving them proper specialization and educating the new families on how to also properly socialize their new pup. It's breaking your back washing puppies and getting them ready for a busy day of puppy pick ups at the end of your time with them. It's knowing and understanding the breed that you have chosen to breed and its needs.
It's also having to screen for the bad owners, and I'm so thankful this one didn't feed me just what I wanted to hear and actually told me her intentions. At first glance, her puppy application (not pictured) seemed to check all the boxes, but I questioned one part of it and it was brought up in our chat. It was apparent to me almost immediately that this was a "no" from me, but I really wanted to understand what she meant... and unfortunately it was exactly what I thought it was..
Please understand that before anybody takes these babies home, they were mine to love first. Their parents are mine to love for several years to present. I will NEVER knowingly send my puppies into a situation like this. Ever. This is why so many aussies end up in rescues and shelters. This is why so many aussies end up aggressive and destructive.
This is.... wild.
I do not sell puppies just to sell them and get them gone. I want the very best families for them.
But again, I'm so glad this person showed me exactly what they were wanting right away. It was a very short conversation as it should have been. And this puppy, or any of them, will absolutely not be going to this person...
