Meet Millie! Millie is a 6-year-old sweetheart who has been patiently waiting at the shelter for approximately 3½ months.

This loving girl is always ready to give kisses, enjoys the water, and seems to do well with children. Millie came into the shelter with three other dogs and appears to do well with canine friends, although a meet-and-greet is recommended. A home without cats would be best recommended.

Millie has plenty of love to give and is ready to trade shelter life for a family of her own. If you think Millie could be the perfect addition to your home, stop by the Vincennes Animal Shelter and meet her!

🐾🚨 PAWSITIVE CHANGE OF PLANS! 🚨🐾

The Vincennes Animal Shelter will be CLOSED, Saturday, September 5th, because some of our adoptable pups and kitties are packing their bags and heading out for a little field trip! 🐶🐱💼

We’ll be at Feeders Pet Supply for an adoption event, and we’d LOVE for you to come meet some of our furry friends who are hoping to find their forever families! ❤️

The Vincennes Animal Shelter is excited to invite everyone to our 3rd Annual Halloween Party & Pet Costume Contest — and this year, we’re adding a TRUNK-OR-TREAT! 🐾🧡

We are looking for local businesses and organizations to join the fun by decorating your trunks and handing out treats to children AND pets! 🍬🐶🐱

Everyone at the Vincennes Animal Shelter would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to KCARC for honoring our shelter with the N. Philip Shelton Award for our efforts to positively impact both animals and people throughout our community and for creating a welcoming environment for all.

We believe deeply in the connection between people and animals, and we know that meaningful community engagement is an important part of the work we do. Our shelter is not only a place for animals in need—it is a place where people and animals can come together, find compassion, and make a difference in one another’s lives.

Ruby is the VPD pet of the week!🐾❤️

This week, we’re excited to introduce Ruby, a sweet 7-year-old girl with plenty of love to give!

Ruby has a gentle, loving temperament with just the right amount of energy, enjoys attention, and especially loves the water! She does well with children and seems to get along with other dogs, although she is unsure about cats.

Even better, as part of Clear the Shelter, all dog adoptions are currently just $25! If Ruby sounds like the missing piece to your family, stop by the Vincennes Animal Shelter for a meet and greet!

Meet Romeo ❤️🐾

Romeo is a 3 1/2 year-old pit mix weighing around 60 pounds, and he’s a big-hearted boy with so much love to give. He would thrive in an active home where he can get plenty of exercise and enrichment. Romeo would do best in a home without cats or another dog and with someone who can be home with him most of the time, as he does struggle with severe separation anxiety.

The good news? Romeo is housebroken, incredibly sweet, and a total love bug who adores constant attention and companionship. He’s the kind of dog who wants to be right by your side, soaking up all the affection he can get.

If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion and have the time to dedicate to him, come out and ask to meet Romeo—he’s ready to meet his person! ❤️
