October 18-24th is National Veterinary Technician Appreciation week! 🐾

A veterinary technician is a nurse, phlebotomist, anesthesiologist, radiology tech, dental hygienist, surgery tech, lab tech, and so much more - all wrapped into one. They’re the hands that hold the paws of your pets in their most vulnerable moments, and the calming voice on the other end of the phone when you have an emergency. They work long hours, weekends, and holidays. They give their all - blood, sweat, and tears included - for their patients.
We utilize this week every year to show our appreciation for their hard work and devotion to caring for animals and making a difference.

This year we want to do something new and kick off the celebrations by highlighting our 4 Registered Veterinary Technicians. Feel free to share any kind words you may have below and we will make sure they see it! 🤍

We have an older male Pomeranian dog brought to us after being hit by a car in the Wheatland area this morning. He is injured and we need to get in contact with his owners regarding his condition and care plan as soon as possible.

We are going through exciting upgrades here at Southgate, including a transition to a new and improved practice system to better serve our patients and clients! With this transition, we kindly request your patience as we navigate this new system and learn how to best utilize it within our practice.

**Please call ahead for all non-preventative prescription refills (24 hrs when possible) to avoid delays when picking up your pet’s prescription**

With the new system comes a new way of delivering appointment and patient reminders. If you receive a message or email from us that doesn’t align with what you scheduled, please call or text 812-882-5656 and we will verify your appointment details. In some instances you may also receive duplicate reminders from us as we transition initially. We apologize if this occurs.

Lastly, a friendly reminder that the office is closing early at 5 pm today. Normal business hours resume tomorrow.

The clinic will be closing at 5 pm on the following dates for staff training as we prepare for a new practice software launch to better serve our patients and clients. (Open 7:30 am-5:00 pm)
Please note this change will not affect any currently scheduled surgeries or appointments.

**We also ask that clients please call ahead for all prescription medication refills other than heartworm & flea preventatives and allow up to 24 hrs for your refill to be processed**

Due to the current weather conditions, we will be operating with reduced office hours of 7:30 am - 12 pm on Monday, January 26th to see sick and urgent patients only.

All clients with scheduled surgeries, routine annual/wellness visits, nail trims, etc. for Monday 1/26/26 will be contacted as soon as possible to reschedule.

If you do not have an appointment and your pet is ill, you can text or call us at 812-882-5656 and we will do our best to work you in. Our team is going to have a large volume of calls to field, so for non-urgent matters or to cancel your appointment, we ask that you text us to free up the phone lines.

Please be patient with us tomorrow as we will be working with limited staff. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
