In just **4 days**, our Humane Department rescued **56 animals** from unimaginable living conditions:

🐶 22 dogs
🐱 27 cats
🐹 3 guinea pigs
🐔 4 chickens

And those numbers only reflect the animals brought in through our Humane Department this week. Countless other animals in need of rescue, care, and protection have also come through our shelter doors.

Sometimes our social media may not be as loud as other organizations. We may not always have time to post every rescue, every investigation, every intake, or every life we touch. But please know this:

**We are here. We are working. And we are saving lives every single day in Trumbull County.**

Behind the scenes, our team is answering cruelty calls, rescuing animals from dangerous situations, providing medical care, feeding hungry mouths, cleaning kennels, comforting frightened animals, and preparing them for brighter futures.

The reality is that this work comes at a cost.

As a nonprofit organization, **we receive no government funding.** Every bag of food, every medical treatment, every blanket, every kennel, and every second chance is made possible by the support of our community.

Today, we are asking for your help.

Your support allows us to continue our mission:

**Rescue. Rehabilitate. Adopt. Educate.**

The need is great, but so is the impact we can make together.

Thank you for standing with us, believing in our work, and helping us give vulnerable animals the second chance they deserve.

4 young chickens rescued by AWL’s Humane Department today!

When a complaint comes in, we never know what we’re going to see when we arrive at the residence in question. Today, Officer Guy and Associate McCaskill discovered 4 Plymouth Rock chickens living in unacceptable conditions with no water present.

The owner willingly surrendered them to us, so a more suited living situation could be found.

Incredibly grateful to Rebel Rescue Ranch for accepting these little beauties immediately so they didn’t have to even enter our shelter!

This is what rescue is about, helping each other, collaboration, no competition!

A HUGE thank you to our friends at JFS Wealth Advisors for cleaning and organizing our storage areas! They put in so much time, got their hands dirty, and everything looks amazing now!

We are so grateful to have groups like this willing to step in and help!

If your workplace is looking for team building community service projects, email Maggie at [email protected]!

Last month, several members of the JFS Wealth Advisors team volunteered at the Animal Welfare League as part of a group volunteer day. The team tackled a full cleanout and reorganization of the storage room, and the Animal Welfare League was incredibly grateful for the help. It was a meaningful way to spend the day, and a good reminder of how much a few hours of effort can mean to an organization doing important work in our community. Thank you to Laura, Kristin, Amanda S., Erin B., Gina, and Steph for rolling up your sleeves and making it happen.

Today, a baby raccoon was left outside our shelter in a box. Unfortunately, no one spoke with a staff member or alerted us that the animal was there.

As an organization dedicated to animal welfare, we understand that people often turn to us when they find an animal in need. However, we want to remind our community that the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County is not a licensed wildlife rehabilitation center and we are not equipped to provide long-term care for wild animals.

Sadly, this young raccoon's injuries were too severe for rehabilitation, and the most humane option was compassionate euthanasia to prevent further suffering.

We share this not to place blame, but as an important reminder: please never leave an animal unattended outside a shelter, veterinary clinic, or any facility. Whether the animal is wild or domestic, speaking directly with staff gives us the best chance to connect that animal with the appropriate resources and care as quickly as possible.

If you find an injured wild animal, please contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator or call us first so we can help guide you to the proper resources. If you are bringing a domestic animal to our shelter, please check in with a staff member at our admissions entrance.

We all share the same goal—to help animals in need. By working together and communicating with one another, we can ensure that every animal has the best possible chance of receiving the care it deserves.

Photo of Ben, our amazing RVT that is rabies vaccinated, who was able to carefully assess the little guy’s injuries and provide nutrition while we were in contact with the proper state authorities.
