For this Christmas in July, we have this lovely lady, Tallulah. She was hospitalized in our emergency department for six days on IV fluid diuresis due to severe azotemia (or severely elevated kidney values) from partial right ureteral obstruction and bilateral nephritis. Her urine culture was negative for bacterial growth, so not consistent with a kidney infection. With six days of IV fluid diuresis, her renal values came down significantly and she got to be discharged on Christmas day. She came back in to see us four days after discharge for recheck labwork and her renal values had improved so much so that she did not need to have surgical intervention or at-home subcutaneous fluid administration. Tallulah's owner even sent us this photo of her at home enjoying outside time in a snazzy sweater. We are so thrilled with how well she's doing and that she didn't need surgery!
