At Perinton Veterinary Hospital, we perform prophylactic gastropexy surgery for dogs at risk of Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV), also known as bloat.

This preventive procedure helps reduce the risk of the stomach twisting, a life-threatening emergency most commonly seen in giant and deep-chested breeds such as Great Danes, Weimaraners, Standard Poodles, German Shepherds, and others.

A gastropexy is often performed at the same time as a spay or neuter, helping provide peace of mind for pet parents and added protection for their beloved companions.
