Swimming and lake trips create several risks:

💧Blue-green algae/cyanobacteria poisoning
💦Saltwater ingestion
🌊Excessive water ingestion ("water intoxication")
💧Near-drowning
🛶Injuries around docks, boats and pools

Blue-green algae deserves special attention in our area. It can cause rapid neurologic or liver toxicity and can be fatal. Dogs should never swim in or drink from water with suspected algae blooms

Scratching isn’t your cat being “bad”—it’s a natural behavior that helps them:
🐾 Stretch and exercise their muscles
🐾 Keep their claws healthy
🐾 Mark their territory
🐾 Relieve stress and feel secure

Instead of stopping the scratching, help your cat choose the right places to scratch!

🪵 Tips to encourage appropriate scratching:
✅ Provide multiple scratching posts with different textures (sisal, cardboard, carpet)
✅ Choose posts tall enough for your cat to fully stretch
✅ Place scratching posts near favorite sleeping areas or where they already scratch
✅ Reward your cat with treats, praise, or play when they use the post
✅ Use toys or catnip to make scratching areas more appealing

🚫 Avoid punishment—this can create fear and stress. Redirect and reward instead!
