Big dog water work today. Two down the shore and a long blind past both marks. On the far point in the second photo there are ducks on the shore/end of the point. We practiced swinging and shooting but no mark was thrown. Then we worked to line up and send the dog to the pile of ducks to simulate them not seeing a mark but trusting me to line up and send them. It’s a process!

Tight lining drills for the master dogs today. Zoom in to see the white poles. Left one is down the shore over the point. Next one is past the point. Third one is up the middle, don’t suck to the right point. Fourth (right hand) is past the tip of the point, up the channel and out. Working hard on lining up right and taking and maintaining tight lines.

Got home late last night from my 8 day Michigan trip. Spent the week training with and . .swiderski took amazing care of us with awesome food! Got a lot of work in with the dogs, learned a few things and got even more motivation to pursue greatness with these dogs. Wrapped the weekend up at the American Pointing Labrador Association test in Fenwick, MI this last weekend. I ran Addie, Waylon, Goose, and North in Master both days and we passed 8/8!

Congrats to and her dog North on earning his 4x Grand Master Pointing Retriever and qualifying for the Triple Crown.

Congrats to and his dog Goose on 2 more passes. Goose just needs 1 more pass for his 4xGMPR and to qualify for the Triple Crown

Congrats to our girl Addie and our co-owners and on earning her 3xGMPR. 2 more passes and we will have Addie qualified for the Triple Crown

And congrats to our newest boy, Waylon, on his 2 passes to qualify him for the triple crown!

Thanks to all the judges, helpers, hunt secretary and chair and everyone who helped make the event possible.

We lost a good one yesterday. Lou crossed the rainbow bridge. He was a big, happy, sweet, high drive, goofy, retrieving machine. Lou loved all people and kids but especially his main family allicenwoiak and zeb.woiak and their two little boys.But in all my years of being around dogs and training retrievers I’ve never seen a dog who loved white bumpers quite like Lou. Lou was one of my first “big dogs” that I trained and handled to high levels in competitions and he sure was talented. He also excelled in the pheasant field and duck blind. A true versatile hunting companion. You will be missed big fella.
