Light on the joints but heavy on the workout.
Did you know that when water height reaches your horse’s stifle, that they only bear about 60% of their weight? This nearly weightless environment allows us to exercise horses with tendon or ligament injuries sooner than you might with just ground work. This means that we can provide a more gradual transition back into work and thus have a horse that is stronger and more prepared to work once ready for under tack work. All of this helps to prepare your horse and prevent reinjury!

Addressing your horse’s metabolic imbalances is imperative to healing and this case is a perfect example. Reducing inflammation and triggering the body to start to heal itself vs fighting daily imbalances in the body means your horse can finally start to get on the road to recovery. It’s an incredible honor to help a horse go from only the hope to be pasture sound with significantly dropped pasterns to being cleared to trot. However you don’t have to take our word for it!
“When I said goodbye to Henri in NC with a broken bone in his left rear pastern, I never thought I would see him again. Surgery and the most amazing care at KESMARC saved our sweet boy. He has been cleared to start light work. With Henry’s veterinarian metabolic testing recommended by KESMARC helped reduce Henri’s inflammation allowing him to heal. Henri’s many friends and fans thank you!” ~Beverly

Did you know that if your horse’s metabolic levels aren’t balanced, it can not only slow healing but also make them more prone to soft tissue injuries?

Metabolic imbalances are typically associated with three key issues:
1. Chronic Inflammation – This breaks down collagen fibers and reduces tissue elasticity.
2. Poor Collagen Quality – High insulin and glucose levels can damage collagen fibers, leading to abnormal tissue that is weak and stiff.
3. Reduced Blood Flow – This limits oxygen delivery to soft tissues, slows healing, and allows waste products that should be removed by circulation to accumulate.

Ever wondered why the cold saltwater spa makes such a big difference?
Osmosis! High salt concentration acts as a natural poultice, reducing inflammation and heat from all 4 legs at once.
Combined with low temperature and circulating water makes it a triple threat. Increased circulation post treatment=better and more efficient healing!

Splish, splash, rehabilitate! 💦 At KESMARC, we’re big believers in the power of aquatred therapy for equine recovery and conditioning.
This low-impact, high-reward exercise offers incredible benefits:
• Reduced joint stress: The buoyancy of water supports your horse’s weight, making it ideal for horses recovering from injury or managing chronic conditions.
• Improved muscle development: Water resistance provides a full-body workout, building strength and stamina without concussive forces.
• Enhanced circulation and flexibility: The controlled environment promotes better blood flow and range of motion.
• Mental stimulation: A unique and engaging activity for horses!
Whether your equine partner is on the mend, building fitness, or simply needs a gentle way to stay active, aquatreding could be the perfect solution.

The best way to treat the lungs is to go straight to the source.

Nebulizers like the Flexineb E3 Portable Equine Nebulizer deliver properly prescribed medication directly into the respiratory tract, helping support horses dealing with airway inflammation, dust irritation, or recovery from respiratory illness.

Direct delivery means the medication goes right where it’s needed most.

Now offering fish pedicures during your horse’s spa treatment!

April Fools!
However, there’s nothing quite like a cold spa treatment and a handwalk as recovery from a big workout. Cold circulating water can help all 4 legs at once without the need to stand and cold hose each one. You get the benefits of cryotherapy along with the benefits of epsom salts.

It’s national triglycerides day! That means it’s time for us to discuss metabolics and horses (including triglycerides). Triglycerides are a type of fat circulating in your horse’s bloodstream, and when levels get too high it can signal metabolic stress or other health concerns.

Maintaining a healthy weight, balanced nutrition, and consistent exercise helps keep those levels in check. Healthy horses aren’t just about a bcs—they’re about balanced metabolic levels.Structured movement—like swimming, aquatred work, and controlled conditioning—can support both strength and metabolic health.
